The new Broadway play LOMBARDI, starring Dan Lauria as the legendary Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi and Judith Light as his wife Marie, begins previews this Thursday, September 23 at the Circle in the Square Theatre, ahead of an October 21 opening night.

Beginning Tuesday October 12, Broadway's new American play LOMBARDI, starring Dan Lauria and Judith Light, will be hosting the Touchdown Tuesdays Talkback Series to which all ticketholders are invited.

Producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser will present LOMBARDI at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre this fall starring Dan Lauria as Vince Lombardi and Judith Light as Marie Lombardi, written by Academy Award winning playwright Eric Simonson and directed by Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail. Joining Ponturo and Kirmser as special producing partner is the National Football League, marking the organization's first foray on Broadway. LOMBARDI, a new American play, is based on the best-selling biography When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi, by Pulitzer Prize winning author David Maraniss. The best of Broadway is being presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2010' - a lunchtime series which began on Thursday, July 8th at 12:30pm on the Bryant Park Stage. The new American play LOMBARDI, starring Dan Lauria and Judith Light, goes into rehearsal later this month for its Broadway engagement at the Circle in the Square Theatre. The production will begin previews on Thursday, September 23, 2010 and officially open on Thursday, October 21.

The new American play LOMBARDI is heading to Broadway after recently concluding its week-long, out-of-town engagement at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that LOMBARDI producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser have donated $7,000 to local sports and arts programs in thanks of their support of the incoming Broadway production. LOMBARDI is currently running at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center where it has played all week. The final performance is tonight, July 28 in that location before making the move to Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre.

Dan Lauria and the creative team of LOMBARDI recently travelled to Green Bay, Wisconsin to introduce the production to Packers fans and speak candidly about the play with those who knew Vince Lombardi.

The Beatnik Café: Musical Revue of the Jazz Beat Generation is scheduled to perform on June 20th at 7:30 pm. Beatnik Café will play at the 80 seat Richmond Shepard Theater (309 E 26th St. at 2nd Ave). Tickets are $25 and include one drink.

Author David Maraniss, whose 1999 book 'When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi' is the basis for the upcoming Broadway play LOMBARDI, has expressed his surprise that his work was so quickly made into a Broadway play.

The cast will feature Judith Light as Marie Lombardi, Keith Nobbs as Michael McCormick, Bill Dawes as Paul Hornung, Robert Christopher Riley as Dave Robinson and Chris Sullivan as Jim Taylor.
