When I viewed 'Jagged Little Pill', I found out the day of that two of the leads were being played by understudies. I was incredibly impressed knowing that they were thrown into the show last minute; I couldn’t even tell that they were understudies! I had the chance to speak with them about their vital roles in and experiences with the show.

Jagged Little Pill, is the latest “Jukebox Musical,” in a rather long line of “Jukebox Musicals,” to make it on Broadway and then tour in recent years. With music by Alanis Morissette, book by Diablo Cody, and additional music by Michael Farrell and Guy Sigsworth, the show traverses the iconic landscape of songs represented on Morissette’s 1995 album of the same name, and touches on topics of pain, healing, and empowerment.

Showtime Productions Inc. has announced the Winnipeg premiere of JAGGED LITTLE PILL, Oct. 17 to Oct. 22 for 8 shows at the Centennial Concert Hall. 

The Bushnell announced that tickets for the Hartford premiere of Jagged Little Pill, running May 9-14, are on sale now.

It may be quite some time before DC audiences get a chance to see the kind of raw emotion and powerful acting and singing that Heidi Blickenstaff brings to the stage in this production of Jagged Little Pill.

The problem with jukebox musicals is that the music they use often takes away from the story that they're telling. It's not an issue with a show like MAMMA MIA, in which the plot is so light that the music complements it. However, when trying to tell a serious story, the songs can feel limiting and distracting from everything else happening.

'You Oughta Know' that the 2019 Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill is making its Michigan debut at Wharton Center in East Lansing from January 31st to February 5th.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has announced the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh 2022-2023 season will present the area premier of Alanis Morissette's JAGGED LITTLE PILL, at the Benedum Center from January 24 to 29, 2023. 

We do get a sort of happy ending, but not with a gratifying round of absolution for everyone. In the complicated interplay of transgression and victimization, and in the face of the realities of life in a patriarchal and heterosexist society, almost everyone ends up wishing they’d deserved and received greater absolution. There reemerges what Morissette calls “common ground,” but everyone remains a work in progress. And it is still enough to send the audience out with eyes shining. It’s earned.
