 Carolyn Dorfman Dance, whose bold and dramatic works connect life and movement, are broadening student's dance knowledge and appreciation through classroom, after school programing, and curriculum building throughout communities across the nation. In 2016, the organization launched the D.E.P.T.H. Initiative, Dance (that) Empowers People to (be more) Human, with a 36-month fundraising goal of $100,000 for dance education expansion. To date, the initiative has raised over $23,000 in private funding, earmarked for five new dance programs—McKinley School in New Brunswick, PS 27 Elementary and Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) in Paterson, New Jersey High School Dance Festival in Union City, and a special student assembly sponsored by LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, Long Island City, New York. SOULSKIN Dance is proud to present a brand new work SATIN & SWING as part of their 4th Season in San Francisco. Artistic Director and Choreographer Adrianna Thompson seeks to engage audiences in a study of two eras, the 1920s and the present. Dance Mission Theatre transforms into a time machine, transporting us back to the 1920s. Glitz and glam sparkle from the dingy corners of a speakeasy. Raucous jazz blares, bringing bejeweled and sequined dancing flapper girls to life. An evening of indulgence has begun. The entry notes of Prince's 'Erotic City' ring in your ears, an echo from another time. Suddenly you notice the writing on the wall. The crash of overindulgence is imminent. (more...)

 Carolyn Dorfman Dance, whose bold and dramatic works connect life and movement, return to the heart-shaped land of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) November 16-23, 2016. The 7-day tour will include a mix of educational community outreach and performance. Carolyn Dorfman Dance will present the European premiere of Traces, danced to a score by Sarajevo native Svjetlana Bukvich. The company will also perform Under My Skin and WAVES, which will feature five dancers from the Ballet of National Theatre in Sarajevo. (more...)
