Williams Street Repertory, Raue Center For The Arts' in-house professional theater company, has announced its upcoming season! From a comedy of biblical proportions to the true story of a country music legend and a childhood classic, WSRep brings something for all audiences to the stage during its 2020 - 2021 season.

Milwaukee Rep will present the world premiere event Hootenanny: The Musicale by celebrated musician David M. Lutken in the Stackner Cabaret March 27 - May 24, 2020. A John (Jack) D. Lewis New Play Development production, Hootenanny: The Musical is inspired by Lutken's storied music career and his own personal ancestry featuring songs like 'Shenandoah,' 'St. Louis Blues,' 'The Wabash Cannonball' and 'The Times They Are a-Changin'.' Audiences are invited to be a part of the four interconnected American musical journeys, filled with beauty, virtuosity, joy and the rough-and-tumble history of this country's unique family tree.

I was lucky to see 'The Cake' at Richmond Triangle Players. It's late in the run of this sold-out hit, with a star turn by Terri Moore, who's made herself a local favorite in a couple iterations of 'Always, Patsy Cline.'

Milwaukee Rep has announced the complete cast and creative teams for the final productions of the 2019/20 Season including the world premiere Antonio's Song / I Was Dreaming of a Son by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith and Antonio Edwards Suarez in the Stiemke Studio March 24 - April 5, 2020; the world premiere event Hootenanny: The Musicale by celebrated musician David Lutken in the Stackner Cabaret March 27 - May 24, 2020; and the telenovela of passion and deception Destiny of Desire by Karen Zacarías in the Quadracci Powerhouse April 21 - May 17, 2020.

Rehearsals have begun for Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, on stage March 6 through 15. This 'classic whodunit' takes audiences on a fast paced thrill ride with a train full of suspects, and each one with an alibi! There are twists and turns aplenty in this intrigue-filled story, newly adapted for the stage from Agatha Christie's masterpiece by two-time Tony-nominated playwright Ken Ludwig. This unforgettable mystery takes audiences on a thrilling ride - Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer - in case he or she decides to strike again.

Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of 'Every Brilliant Thing' by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe. Playing in the ArtStage Studio Theatre Feb. 28 to Mar. 29, the run includes four nearly sold-out previews Feb. 25 - 27.

The Chicagoland premiere of Almost Heaven: John Denver's America opened Sunday night February 16 to an enthusiastic crowd. Theatre at the Center Artistic Director Linda Fortunato cast Shannon McEldowney, Steven Romero Schaeffer, Andrew Mueller, Sara Geist and Tommy Malouf in the musical revue Almost Heaven: John Denver's America to kick off its 30th Anniversary Season. The cast was joined on stage by musicians William Underwood, Malcolm Ruhl and Alison Tatum. Fortunato is the director and William Underwood is the music director. The now Jeff Recommended production continues through March 22.

 Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of the first production of 2020 at the Hanover Tavern: The 39 Steps, opening Friday, February 14. The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning play mixes a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, and adds a dash of Monty Python, to create a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. STAGES St. Louis and the City of Kirkwood are thrilled to announce the naming of the Main Stage Theatre at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center (PAC). Thanks to a very generous gift from Don and Nancy Ross, the theatre will be named The Ross Family Theatre.

A wickedly funny new sequel on the classic Grimms' fairy tale, Hansel & Gretl & Heidi & Günter will make its World Premiere at Village Theatre this spring. The smart and riotous new musical features a book by Hannah Kohl, lyrics by Daniel Maté, and music by Will Aronson, and will be directed by Village Theatre's Artistic Director, Jerry Dixon (If/Then).
