Holly’s extensive list of work reaches back to childhood, including voicing the character of Lin in the anime cult-classic Fist of the North Star. As a theatre actress, she performs regularly throughout the Los Angeles area, most recently gaining accolades for her award-winning solo show, Deconstructing Holly.

Interview: Holly Sidell on Portraying Isabel in CROSSING DELANCEY

Told through a series of vignettes, Crossing Delancey examines Bubbie's belief in the old-world Jewish family custom of all young women needing to find a husband as soon as possible to settle down and raise a family against those of Isabel, a modern 1980s Jewish woman in New York City learning to stand on her own two feet. I spoke with Holly Sidell who is portraying Isabel in the current production at Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills through June 21.

Centering on the newly elected president Woodrow Wilson, the story delves into how the Women’s Suffrage Parade pushed him to finally agree to Voting Rights for All. I decided to speak with Melanie about how the play came into being, her plans to present it as a reading, and how she plans to keep presenting it in the future.
