The Shaw Festival has announced its 61st season. A mix of classics, real hidden gems, new works and a variety of voices will be seen, heard and experienced in both their indoor and outdoor spaces next season.


A breezy comedy of manners, as only Oscar Wilde could pen, is a welcome way to return to Niagara-on-the Lake's SHAW FESTIVAL. For it's 60th anniversary audiences are in for a familiar treat as THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST returns to the stage in all it's witty charm. Hints of covid still pervade the air as a notice of two understudies stepping into two leading roles greeted us. But fear not, their polished presence assured there was never any cause for concern.

The Shaw Festival's 2021 season continues into fall and winter with the American classic Desire Under the Elms, the beloved Irving Berlin musical Holiday Inn and perennial Yuletide favourite A Christmas Carol.


Tim Carroll has been nominated for several awards for his work as a director. He was nominated for Outstanding Director of a Play at the Drama Desk Awards for his work on "Twelfth Night." He was also nominated for Outstanding Director of a Play at the Outer Critics Circle Awards for the same production. Additionally, Carroll received a nomination for Best Direction of a Play at the Tony Awards for his work on "Twelfth Night."
