Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, the Shaw Festival's perennial production (and audience favourite), kicks off the holiday theatre season on November 5 at the Royal George Theatre. The seasonal celebrations continue when Lerner and Loewe's timeless musical Brigadoon conjures more magic and enchantment at the Festival Theatre on November 15.

The Shaw Festival’s Outdoors @ The Shaw returns for another year of theatre, concerts and curated experiences alfresco from June 3 to October 7 on the grounds of the Shaw Festival.  

During the Shaw Festival's Annual General Meeting, Treasurer Greg Prince announced the Shaw Festival attained operating revenues of $35.7 million – The Shaw's largest operating revenue level ever – and posted an operating surplus of $7,000 for the 2022 season, the most multi-faceted and extensive season yet produced at The Shaw.

Artistic Director Tim Carroll has unveiled the Shaw Festival's 2023 casting and creative teams for the Festival Theatre, Royal George Theatre, Jackie Maxwell Studio Theatre, BMO Stage, as well as the newly added Spiegeltent.

Two timeless holiday tales, guaranteed to make spirits bright in young and old alike, begin previews at The Shaw. The Festival's holiday spirits, um spirit, will take over the Royal George Theatre on November 9 with the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Irving Berlin's White Christmas, his adored musical homage to romance and snow, follows merrily along on November 18 at the Festival Theatre.

The Shaw Festival is thrilled to be one of the recipients of The Slaight Family Foundation Theatre Initiative. The transformational gift of $1.5 million will further assist the Niagara-on-the-Lake-based theatre company's recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Shaw Festival has announced its 61st season. A mix of classics, real hidden gems, new works and a variety of voices will be seen, heard and experienced in both their indoor and outdoor spaces next season.

A breezy comedy of manners, as only Oscar Wilde could pen, is a welcome way to return to Niagara-on-the Lake's SHAW FESTIVAL. For it's 60th anniversary audiences are in for a familiar treat as THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST returns to the stage in all it's witty charm. Hints of covid still pervade the air as a notice of two understudies stepping into two leading roles greeted us. But fear not, their polished presence assured there was never any cause for concern.

In conjunction with The Hennepin Theatre Trust's LGBTQIA+ Exhibit, Patrick's Cabaret will present Pride 2022 - LIVE! a very special Cabaret in their 3rd Floor performance space, the 'Studio 900', on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Expect an amazing evening of performance, media, cocktails (including non-alcoholic) and a lot of not to be missed! The cabaret will feature works by: Apocalypse Theatre, Lori Dokken, Kohl Miner, Ann Marsden, Chris Stark, Venus DeMars, and Patrick Scully - mc.

Three more shows from the Shaw Festival’s 2022 playbill are poised to begin previews. The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece of wit, comedy and satirical social commentary, begins previews May 18. 

During the mid-afternoon proceedings, Treasurer Greg Prince announced to an online audience of patrons, donors and company members that the Shaw Festival attained gross revenues of $26,632 million and posted an operating surplus of $113,891 in 2021.

Today's top stories include the West End debut of Keala Settle! It was recently announced that the Greatest Showman star will make her West End debut in & Juliet in the role of Nurse beginning March 29. She will be performing the role through June 18.

The Shaw Festival is mourning the death of Christopher Newton, former artistic director, who died peacefully yesterday morning at the age of 85. Actor, stage manager, playwright, artistic director, Mr. Newton made a momentous impact and life-long contributions to the Canadian theatre landscape and performing arts.

The Shaw Festival's 2021 season continues into fall and winter with the American classic Desire Under the Elms, the beloved Irving Berlin musical Holiday Inn and perennial Yuletide favourite A Christmas Carol.
