Like Ebenezer Scrooge, a quarter mile stretch of East State Street in downtown Columbus will be haunted by the ghosts of three different versions of Charles Dickens’ tale, A CHRISTMAS CAROL between Nov. 24 and Dec. 23. Each one of them will feature different ways of presenting the tale without changing the meaning.

What did our critic think of REVIEW: INTO THE WOODS at Short North Stage? There are two adages most people know about the theatre: 'Break a leg' and 'The show must go on.' Short North Stage experienced both as it prepared for its 19-show run of INTO THE WOODS.

The Salt Lake City premiere of Disney’s The Lion King opened on Friday, September 30 at 7:30pm at the Eccles Theater for a limited engagement of 4 weeks through Sunday, October 23.  In Salt Lake City, The Lion King will play Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30pm, Thursday, Sept. 29 and Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm and 8:00pm and Sundays at 1:00pm and 6:30pm.  

The North American tour of Disney’s The Lion King will welcome Peter Hargrave, Nick LaMedica and Khalifa White as Scar, Zazu and Nala, respectively. The new cast members will begin performances in Salt Lake City at The Eccles Theater, where the award-winning musical will play a four-week return engagement from Thursday, September 29 through Sunday, October 23, 2022.  LaMedica and White begin performances on Thursday, September 29, while Hargrave debuts on Thursday, October 13.

It has been over 130 years since German playwright Frank Wedekind first published SPRING AWAKENING. In 2006, the play was reinvented when Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater turned it into a musical.

The May 5 performance of the Short North Stage's production of SPRING AWAKENING at the Garden Theater (1187 N. High Street in downtown Columbus) will be more than just opening night for Emma Rose Johnson and Sage Lee.

On Monday March 28th, Short North Stage hosted a fundraiser event featuring Broadway performers Jelani Remy (Ain't Too Proud, Lion King) and Thayne Jasperon (Hamilton, Newsies). Patrons enjoyed an evening full of entertainment with special guests Thom Christopher Warren, Lisa Glover, accompanist Jonathan Collura, and the cast of Little Shop of Horrors. The great thing is the casting changes add and do not detract from the show. Riley and Mia Angelique, who plays Audrey, carry the arc of co-worker crush awkwardness, the puppy love stage of courting, and finally self-sacrificing true love.

Pushcart Players artistic director, Paul Whelihan will be performing the role of Mr. Mushnik in the Short North Stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” This sci-fi, cult-hit musical comedy will play from March 17 through April 16 at the Garden Theater in Columbus, OH.

The Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Org (BRAVO) has been serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual communities since 1996. A Night of Broadway is a comedy cabaret titled Laughing in the Faces of Hate & Violence. Local performers are presenting the cabaret as a fundraiser for BRAVO. Paper Mill Playhouse has announced a special live streaming event from their Humanities Symposium Program Straight from the Paper Mill Playhouse Vault featuring Broadway's best and performances from some the brightest Paper Mill stars of the day including retrospectives on Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Sondheim and more! 

Additional casting has been announced for the one-night only concert presentation of the holiday classic Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol on Monday, December 16 at 7:30 pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 W. 59th St.). The evening will be directed by Carl Andress with choreography by Nathan Peck, based on original choreography by Marcos Santana. Grammy Award and Emmy Award-winner John McDaniel has written new orchestrations for the score and will serve at the evening's music director, conducting a 28 piece on stage orchestra.
