Following last month’s announcement and subsequent record sell out of the concerts in celebration of R.E.M.’s Chronic Town, Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, long-time friend and promoter Velena Vego, and streaming partner Veeps are collaborating to make the show available for R.E.M. fans around the world via a premium livestream experience.
Broadway veteran Randal Keith will be joining the staged concert presentation of Stephen Schwartz and John Caird's Children of Eden in Chicago this October.
The new album features The Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn as well as PJ Harvey saxophonist Terry Edwards who also performed on Rural Tapes. They are also joined by Kristine Tjøgersen (clarinet, bass clarinet), Lars Løberg Tofte (bass), Marin Stallemo Bakke (violins) and Øystein Braut (electric guitar).
In a time when the people that live on our planet can’t seem to agree on anything, being in a room where everyone was on the same page celebrating the importance and brilliance of American Popular Music and honoring some of it’s most talented artists was truly a joy.
FIRST LOVE PROJECT is a project conceived to save storied nightclub First Avenue in Minneapolis. Today The Dream Syndicate have released their third album for ANTI- Records, The Universe Inside.
When The Dream Syndicate emerged in the early 80s, front man Steve Wynn declared, “We're playing music we want to hear because nobody else is doing it.” He added, “I'll compromise on what I eat or where I sleep, but I won't compromise on what music I play.” Both were true, and although their template of Velvet Underground meets Crazy Horse may seem commonplace today (and let's not forget, the Syndicate spawned many imitators), their raw twin guitar, bass and drums approach was not common during an era when slick, polished MTV bands ruled.
LA indie rock forbearers The Dream Syndicate are announcing their third ANTI- Records release today. Titled The Universe Inside, the mind-bending new album will be released on April 10. First single “The Regulator” kicks in instantly; at twenty minutes long, immerse yourself in the song and watch its new video. Directed by David Daglish, the video is a psychedelic journey through New York City, equal parts panoramic, psychedelic, somnambulistic and political in all the best ways. George Harrison once said, “arrive without traveling.” This is your ticket to The Universe Inside.
Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap - the entire Serengeti comes to life on stage each night in The Lion King. The Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Disney's much-loved film transports audiences to a dazzling world of glorious colors, stunning effects and enchanting music to tell the story of Simba and his epic journey from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands.
Los Angeles's The Dream Syndicate is thrilled to release These Times today, their second album of new music since their 2012 reunion nearly thirty years after they first influenced California's Paisely Underground scene. If 2017's How Did I Find Myself Herewas a 10 pm record, all swagger and cathartic explosion, then These Times is the 2 am sibling, moodier and more mercurial with the band acting as DJs of their own overnight radio station as the listener drifts off into dreams and wonders the next morning if any of it was real.

“I put some miles on / still a long long ways to go,” The Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn languidly sings on the new track “Put Some Miles On”. The song's title has a double meaning, as it relates to both passing time on the road and listening with appreciation to the influential jazz trumpeter, Miles Davis.
