Sarah originated the role of Mrs. Colonel in Goodspeed’s production of The Circus in Winter by Hunter Foster and Ben Clarke. This year, Sarah has also originated roles in two very exciting new works: Clouds are Pillows for the Moon (directed by Tony-nominated director, Leigh Silverman) and Silent Sky, a new play by Lauren Gunderson at TheatreWorks, in which Sarah portrayed real life astronomer, Annie Jump Cannon. Sarah was in the original Broadway company of Les Miserables (covering Madame Thenardier) and in the National Tours of 9 to 5, The Musical and Sunset Boulevard. Her Favorite regional theater roles include Vivian Bearing in Wit (The Penobscot Theatre), Yvonne in Sunday In the Park (Arden Theater Company), and most recently, the title role of Julius Caesar in Smith Street Stage’s gender bending production. For film, Sarah won the 2011 LIFF Best Actor Award for her portrayal of Barbara Stanwyck in the Indy cult film, Agnes Moorehead is God! On TV, Sarah played Tea Leoni’s nurse on Madam Secretary and an ATF agent opposite Kevin Bacon in the hit series, The Following. Sarah holds an MFA from UC, Irvine. Previews began on November 14 and the show had an official opening on November 20, 2019. Performances will continue through December 7, 2019. Charlotte's Off Broadway (Producer, Anne Lambert) is very happy to welcome April Armstrong (Ragtime, Carousel) to the company for the Off-Broadway premiere of Confidence (and The Speech), a new play, written by Susan Lambert Hatem and directed by Hannah Ryan (Hamilton, An American in Paris). Ms. Armstrong will portray President Jimmy Carter (replacing the previously announced Denise Burse) for a limited engagement at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street a?" between 9th & 10th Avenues). Smith Street Stage will present its first full-length off-Broadway show in September with Lear's Shadow, an original adaptation by Ms. Hopkins of Shakespeare's King Lear. Directed by Beth Ann Hopkins with original music by Elliot Roth, Lear's Shadow will perform September 5th through 22nd at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theater at the A.R.T./New York Theatres on West 53rd St.
