Paper Mill Playhouse Launches New Education Initiative

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the launch of a new education service for high school students whose aim it is to study theater or musical theater in college. Paper Mill Prep is a college discovery and audition coaching program. "Paper Mill has an extensive statewide education and outreach effort that already has us working closely with the strongest young talent in New Jersey, and this extension of our Conservatory professional training program and Rising Star Awards will allow us to support these students as they begin the process of looking at college theater programs." shared Director of Education, Lisa Cooney. "Our goal is to help them determine and gain admission to the college programs that benefits them the most."

The Hoover Institution and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative (MITEI) released today the product of a multiyear collaboration: Game Changers: Energy on the Move. The book, which highlights the historic and current effects of five research and development efforts from US universities, stresses the importance of sustained support for basic energy research and development if the United States is to meet its goal of a cheaper, cleaner, and more secure national energy system.

The Orpheum continues its exciting Fall film mini-series with KING KONG on Friday, September 6 at 7:00 PM. Handpicked by Orpheum President and CEO Pat Halloran, this 1933 version of the film will cost patrons only 50 cents per person as homage to the low ticket prices of that time period.

They opened the Columbus premiere of Adam Gwon's musical, 'Ordinary Days' last night with the production's creator in the audience, and if that lead to any nervousness, it certainly didn't show.

The 29th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering -the nation's greatest celebration of the American West, its people, culture and traditions-will take place today, January 28 to February 2, 2013, in Elko, Nevada. Produced by the Western Folklife Center, the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering features performances of poetry and music from the cowboy and ranching occupation, but also presents exhibitions, films, workshops, dances and discussions-all centered on land-based culture in the American West, its traditional arts and the challenges it faces in the 21st century.
