BIO
John Light made his stage debut in David Haig's My Boy Jack (1997) at the Hampstead Theatre, playing Rudyard Kipling's son. His early screen credits include North and South (2004), Cider with Rosie (1998), Aristocrats (1999), Dresden (2006), The Lion in Winter (2003), and The Prophecy: Uprising (2005) and The Prophecy: Forsaken (2005). He also starred in the title role of the play A New World: A Life of Thomas Paine (2009).
His television credits include Silk (2011), WPC 56 (2013), Father Brown (2013–), Lewis (2014), Endeavour, and Maigret (2016). He has also appeared in Agatha Raisin (2019), Midsomer Murders (2018), and Around the World in 80 Days (2022).
A prolific stage actor, Light appeared in Julius Caesar and The Tempest as part of the Complete Works Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon. He starred in Thom Pain (based on nothing) (2012), Taken at Midnight (2015), earning an Olivier Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Play, Carmen Disrupted (2015), Mary Stuart (2016–2018), The Son (2019), and Uncle Vanya (2019).

The jarring exploration of teenage depression is tighter and even more poignant in this second incarnation, having filled in those small gaps that kept the ending too anchored to the ground the first time. They are assured in their gut-wrenching pace, with Light delivering what could be the performance of a lifetime.
