Boundless Theater's New York premiere of Slap&Tickle, a thought-provoking, comedic, and sensual play written by David James Parr will be presented as an immersive theatrical experience at The Eagle NYC.

Two legends in experimental theater – the iconic writer/director Martha Clarke and the Tony Award-winning La MaMa ETC – will collaborate for the first time when La MaMa presents the world premiere of Ms. Clarke’s newest full-length work, GOD’S FOOL.

On Monday, February 21 National Queer Theater in partnership with The Dramatists Guild of America presented Jubilee for a New Vision: A Celebration of Trans and Gender Non-conforming Artists at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, as part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide 2022 Afrofuturism Festival. 

National Queer Theater and The Dramatists Guild of America will present Jubilee for a New Vision: A Celebration of Trans and Gender Non-conforming Artists on Monday, February 21 at 7pm at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 W 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019), presented as part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide 2022 Afrofuturism Festival.

La MaMa in association with Skysaver Productions presents GRAND PANORAMA – a music-theater work by Theodora Skipitares about Frederick Douglass's obsession with photography and its power to 'tell the truth' about the humanity of African-Americans during slavery – will be given its world-premiere at La MaMa, with previews beginning February 17 prior to a press opening on February 20, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director.

James A. Pierce III, a 2020 AUDELCO Award winner for Featured Actor in a Musical (The Dark Star from Harlem; La Mama E.T.C.) and a 9 year Broadway Veteran (Lion King, Anastasia) returns to the New York Stage in Evan Edwards' new drama Members of the Choir, directed by Rick Hamilton.

Hosted in partnership with The 24 Hour Plays and The Dramatists Guild of America, the evening features brand-new monologues written, rehearsed and recorded in 24 hours by NQT’s New Visions Fellows, a fellowship supporting the work of Black Trans and gender non-conforming artists.

AUDELCO has announced the nominees for its 2020 'VIV' Awards, honoring excellence in Black Theatre.

An intense motivation and extreme passion for the arts are the main factors that lead Latinx teenager Eylisabeth Bengochea to a new solution for both performers and fans: virtual musicals. When the Covid crisis brought the arts to a screeching halt, she knew something had to be done to ensure that theater stayed alive, something unique that would engage the audience of young theatre lovers and reignite their enthusiasm in the arts.

Previews begin tonight the world premiere of A Wonderful World, a new musical based on the life and songs of jazz legend and American icon Louis Armstrong at Miami New Drama. The production plays the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL.) from March 5 - April 5, with opening night set for March 14.

Today, LA MAMA announced the limited engagement of the world premiere musical THE DARK STAR FROM HARLEM: The Spectacular Rise of Josephine Baker. Featuring a book and direction by Glynn Borders and music and lyrics by Mario E. Sprouse, the production will play LA MAMA located at 66 East 4th Street, New York, NY, November 21 - December 1, 2019. Tickets are $30 with discounts available for students, senior adults and groups. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at lamama.org, by calling 212.352.3101, or at the LA MAMA box office one hour before a performance.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, after two successful years on Broadway, the musical adaptation of the hit animated film, Anastasia will play its final performance on today, March 31, 2019. Upon closing, Anastasia will have played 808 regular and 34 preview performances at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street).
