Andrew Strano is an Australian playwright living and working in New York. A Fulbright Scholar, NYFA City Artists Corps member, and member of Theater Now New York’s Musical Theatre Writers Lab, through which Andrew received a NAMT Writers Residency Grant to develop 'Kusama'.
Full-length works include 'Nailed It!' (Greenroom Award: Best Original Songs, Adelaide Cabaret Festival), 'Jack Of Two Trades' (Pratt Award), Voyagers (City Of Melbourne 2020 Arts Grant), and Skin (Off-Broadway: Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, Global Forms Theatre Festival, Semi-Finalist: O’Neill NMTC; Syracuse University New Works, New Voices).
Short works include STARSONG (Rattlestick, Chain Theatre Festival, TNNY SOUND BITES X, Indieworks’ Bite-Sized Broadway), Anticipation (Rattlestick), Space (Lincoln Center’s Future Broadway Songbook), Come Together (Bite-Sized Broadway), and CHICKEN/EGG (American Opera Project).
Andrew holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing (NYU Tisch GMTWP), an MA in Writing for Performance (VCA/Melbourne University), and has worked as a director, performer, and educator for theatres and universities worldwide, including NYU, Monash University, Harlem School for the Arts, and ArtsConnection.
