Alāna Rader (she/her/hers) is a Brooklyn-based theatre maker/poet/rescue Pekingese owner. Recent credits include: Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Colonial Theatre of Rhode Island, Jeanette in Rusalka at Planet Connections, Gertrude in Seussical at the Fulton, The Water Dream at NYMF and Kitty in Pride and Prejudice at Pittsburgh Irish and Classical. CHAINING ZERO Will Hold its First Developmental Staging at the Kent State School of Theatre and Dance Next Month


Kent State University's School of Theatre and Dance continues its 2021-2022 season with the first fully staged developmental production of the new musical Chaining Zero, running Nov. 5 - 14 in E. Turner Stump Theatre.

The audience is invited to eavesdrop on the vibrant and perilous world of RUSALKA. Blending history with the atmosphere of an underground speakeasy, this world is brought to life by the bar's live house band, playing an eclectic selection of music from the WWII era as well as stylized interpretations of modern music meant to invoke the fire & frenzy of a world at war. The story revolves around two young sisters infiltrate an underground bar catering to jazz-loving Nazis who find an escape in the music they are meant to forbid. One SS Lieutenant in particular welcomes a sweet romance, though the sisters have been tasked to seduce him to a darker fate. The nearby woods await revenge as music, dancing, boozing and secrets weave together to unlock this wild tale of youthful resistance.

Michael L. Marra to Star in OLIVER! at Strand Theater


MICHAEL L. MARRA ("Les Mis," Broadway & 4th National Tour, and "Jekyll & Hyde" 1st National Tour) stars as "Bill Sykes" in "Oliver!" at The Strand Theater in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA just 25 miles north of the city's central theatre district. While in rehearsal for this momentous event in the development of the growing Strand Theater, SHANE TRELOAR, who is playing "The Dodger" has been cast in the National Tour of "Elf" in the role of "Michael," to begin rehearsals October 7, the week following the closing of "Oliver!" And touring the Eastern United States through the holidays.

Anthony Rapp, J. Robert Spencer, Karmine Alers & More Set for THE WATER DREAM at NYMF Tonight


The New York Musical Theatre Festival welcomes back Anthony Rapp to the festival as he stars in the staged reading of Shawn Cody's epic fantasy THE WATER DREAM directed by Jim True-Frost. The event will take place tonight, July 10 and the 11th at The Pershing Square Signature Center, The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre (480 West 42nd St.). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by visiting www.nymf.org. This event is being produced by Royal Family Productions.
