The Center at West Park presents spit&vigor's MOTH&FLAME, this April 5-21st! Written by Sara Fellini and directed by Emma Went, Moth&Flame is the entrancing & intertwined stories of Michaelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi, and how their art changed the world as they fought the church, their peers and their own personal demons to remain true to their art and themselves.

The great Baroque painters Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi confess their sins to a heavenly priest in purgatory. Gentileschi recounts her notorious rape and torture in order to reclaim her legacy and fully illuminate her brilliant life and art. Caravaggio, confused after his own brutal and untimely death, is searching for forgiveness -- or possibly something deeper.

spit&vigor was presented the Donn Russell Grant after company members won the 2015 NYIT award for Outstanding Premier Production of a Play. The show is spit&vigor's 6th full length production since the company's beginnings, and aims to take a look at the value of art and work as seen through the eyes and experiences of the artists themselves. The show stars Sara Fellini ("The voice of a crystal bell...Fellini is captivating" -Michael Martin, Nola Defender) as Artemisia Gentileschi, and Adam Belvo (winner of the 2014 Planet Connections Outstanding Actor award) as Michaelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio.

Expertly directed by Emma Went (Much Ado About Nothing - The Brick, Boxcar & the upcoming Old Names for Wildflowers at The Tank) and with subtle and expressive light design by Chelsie McPhilimy (Rush! - Paradise Factory), Moth&Flame will be performed in The Balcony Theater at the Center at West Park (165 W. 86th Street, NYC 10024) Thursday through Saturday evenings @ 8PM, April 5-7, 12-14 & 19-21.
