The Long Rail North is the story of Private Thomas Morgan, a Black Union soldier, who must escape via train with a young Southern White girl named Molly Barnes that he rescued from a plantation fire of a nearby Civil War battle. Exhausted with limited resources and even fewer allies, Thomas continues traveling north in the near-empty boxcar, hoping to get Molly to safety despite her ignorant and preconceived opinions of him and his race, all while both Union and Confederate forces pursue them. He will do whatever he can to protect her...at all costs.

The show stars Xavier Rodney, Jordyn Morgan, Rich Wisneski, Anna M. Hogan, and Michael J. Whitten. The stage manager is Liza Penney. The tech director is Melissa Farinelli, who has tech directed Two Gentlemen of Verona: A Swashbuckling Comedy! and A 1940's Comedy of Errors. The costume designer is Janet Mervin, award-winning costume designer of The Troubador Struck By Lightning, Basement and Chaplin.

The C.A.G.E. (Classical Avant-Garde Experimental) Theatre of New York City was started in 2004 by Michael Hagins, and has been a company dedicated to bringing classical works to a modern audience. C.A.G.E. Theatre Company has produced previous FringeNYC productions of Two Gentlemen of Verona: A Swashbuckling Comedy! and A 1940's Comedy of Errors.
