New York, NY — ALISON COOK BEATTY DANCE announces its Spring Season 2026 with two distinct programs presented April 10 and 11 at 8:00 PM at Theater for the New City. The season features repertory favorites, a New York City premiere, and a world premiere, offering audiences an expansive exploration of ritual, resilience, belief systems, and collective power.
Across two evenings, Artistic Director Alison Cook-Beatty curates programs that reflect the company’s signature blend of musicality, emotional depth, and physically dynamic ensemble work. The season will feature dancers: Maddie Burnett, Ioanna Ioannides, Ava Trochiano, Facundo Ferreyra, Owen Lunsford, Chynna Holder, Marcos Antonio and Makenna Zelenak, and understudies Kaitlyn Hennings and Natalie Aronno.
Founded in 2012, Alison Cook Beatty Dance is a New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit modern dance company recognized for its emotionally driven, musically rigorous work. The company has performed extensively throughout the United States and has received multiple grant awards in support of its artistic and community initiatives. Its work has also been featured on national news and television, reflecting its growing impact and visibility.
PROGRAM A: Ritual, Loss, and Collective Memory (85 minutes) features repertory works spanning 25 years, including Pastoral (2000), set to George Frideric Handel; Murmuration (excerpt) (2016), set to Ottorino Respighi; the NYC Premiere of HER(É) with music by Nils Frahm and Jlin; Banshee’s Lamentation (2013); Transformation & Empowerment (2025), featuring bird puppetry; and Silentium (from Tintinnabuli) set to Arvo Pärt.
PROGRAM B: Belief, Control, and Resistance (76 minutes) includes HER(É), Pastoral, Murmuration (excerpt), and the World Premiere of Top Heavy, set to Claude Debussy, alongside Manifestations (2016), set to John Adams, and Transformation & Empowerment.
