Harbor Lights Appoints Theresa Sarrica as New Board Chair

The Harbor Lights Theater Company (HLTC) has announced the election of Theresa Sarrica as Board Chair.

Theresa Sarrica, a resident of Staten Island for a little over a decade, brings more than two decades of?experience in fundraising and marketing for the not-for-profit sector to the Harbor Lights Theater Company. Prior to her serving as Director of Communications for New York City Department of Finance, she served as Director of Inter-Agency Communication for Department of Transportation, Director of for Development for Queens, American Cancer Society, Director of Development for Dominican Sisters Family Health Service and Director of External Affairs for Samaritan Village. Theresa will help guide HLTC growth and influence in Staten Island with a focus ondeveloping long range communications, marketing and fundraising goals. She understands the important contribution a professional Actor's Equity Theater Company can bring to Staten Island. Sarrica will bring her strong operational, organizational experience and dedication to assist in supporting and guiding HLTC toward achieving its mission.

"HLTC has been providing exceptional productions to the residents of Staten Island for three years and is quickly reaching an important stage in their mission to bring Broadway to the doorsteps of Staten Islanders. There is a large segment of the population that are theatre goers with over 16,000 Staten Islanders going to the city to see plays every year. Now, these theatre lovers and their families are becoming aware of the talent and award winning plays available in their own backyards. HLTC will continue to grow and provide top-notch, and award-winning theatre experiences as well as educational opportunities for children and their families," said Sarrica.

So far this season, Harbor Lights has produced two shows that were warmly received by its audiences. Both I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change and Oliver ! highlighted Broadway level talent rounded out by a mix of local talent that is ripe in our community.

"Under Theresa's leadership we are looking forward to wrapping up the 2013 season with a heartwarming holiday show - It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (December 6-22 at Veterans Memorial Hall, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens) and stay tuned for Jacques Brel, on our original season lineup, but postponed for the time being, " said Tamara Jenkins, Executive Artistic Director of Harbor Lights.
