Local husband and wife artists Aaron and Michelle Grayum will bring their collaborative creations to MIR Gallery for their Birds, Umbrellas, and Boundaries art show. The show, which opens on Saturday, November 6th at 6pm, is part of the First Saturday Art Crawl and will run through November 23rd.
In a style that has been described as sophisticated whimsy and quirky intellectualism, Aaron and Michelle make use of painting, drawing, sculpture and poetry to attack their themes."Birds, Umbrellas, and Boundaries" is an exploration of the lines of protection (or lack thereof) that exist within a person or between groups of people. Some pieces are simple and light. Others are heavier and have more complex interpretations. The work in this show is a seamless collaboration between Aaron and Michelle Grayum. Each piece contains elements from both artists, but unless you know that Aaron tends to create 2-dimensional and Michelle creates 3-dimensional artwork, you would probably be at a loss to see where the hand of one artist ends and the other begins.Videos
