Set in the refugee camp in Calais, France known as “The Jungle” that existed from January 2015 to October 2016 at the peak of the European migrant crisis, The Jungle asks why those crossing borders in search of safety and home must face grave harm and danger? This fictionalized re-telling of real life events tells the story of a standoff between immigrants trying to protect their new homes and the government that refuses to let them stay.
“The Jungle was meant to offer an entry point for a community conversation on immigration. Little did we know how urgent the play would become. Its urgency remains with the conversation it engenders, but more, with its complex depiction of people standing together, against a national government that wants them gone.” – Artistic Director, Mark Valdez.
With a cast of 20, this epic and ambitious, and revolutionary Mixed Blood production is a must-see event.
“A significant event in which theatre shakes hands with the world.” – The Sunday Times
