Stageworks Presents 'As Bees in Honey Drown' At The Shimberg Playhouse In Tampa

As Bees in Honey Drown is coming to the Shimberg Playhouse this season. The theater is located at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center at 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa, Florida. The show will play July 8-25. It will begin at 8PM Thursdays - Saturdays and Sundays at 4PM. Ticket Prices are $24.50 and $10 for Students and Seniors. In 1968, Mart Crowley's viciously funny play 'The Boys in the Band' opened off-Broadway and created a sensation among New York theatre-goers. It stimulated a new awareness of Gay Culture, which became a catalyst for the Stonewall riots a few months later, and we've never been the same since! In 1970, it was a highly successful film directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist), featured the original NY cast and was seen by millions worldwide. A brand new film documentary chronicling the The Making of the Boys and its impact was a hit at the recent Ft. Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Valencia East Campus Calls for New Plays, Due 10/15

The Valencia East Campus theater program is accepting plays from Florida playwrights for its annual Florida Playwrights Competition which has been held every year since 1991. Scripts must be original, previously unproduced, full-length plays (scripts that have received staged readings may be submitted). Collaborations are eligible, but children's plays, musicals and adaptations are not. Deadline for entries is October 15, 2010.

Paul Rudnick's 'The New Century' - Auditions At The Waterfront Playhouse

The Waterfront Playhouse announces auditions for 'The New Century' by Paul Rudnick, which is part of their 2010/11 season. The auditions will be held on Thursday, October 14, 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Waterfront Playhouse. Director Rich Simone will be looking for five experienced comedic actors between the ages of 20 to 60. The play requires actors who are comfortable with the verbal demands of the script, as well as fitting the specific types of the characters. A complete character breakdown is on our website: www.WaterfrontPlayhouse.org. Production dates for 'The New Century' are April 5 to April 23 with rehearsals beginning sometime early March. All of the roles are open and all are paid.
