Manatee Players Auditions for RING OF FIRE, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROS

The Manatee Players will hold auditions on Sunday January 22 & 23 at 7 p.m. for the musicals RING OF FIRE: THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH and SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS.

CEE LO GREEN, songwriter, producer, one half of Gnarls Bentley, host of Fuse TV's 'Cee Lo Green: Talking to Strangers' and The Voice co-judge, is one of popular music's most in-demand guest artists, lending his voice to hit tracks by the likes of TLC, OutKast, Diddy, Santana, Common, and the Pussycat Dolls - with whom he co-wrote and produced 2005's worldwide #1 hit, 'Don't Cha (feat. Busta Rhymes). His most memorable moment of 2011-so far-was his performance of 'Forget You' with Gwyneth Paltrow during the Grammys.

The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds tells the story of Tillie, a hopeful and focused dreamer who struggles to keep her aspirations alive amidst the chaos of her home-life, controlled by a desperate mother wonting of love and a rebellious sister. Tensions are elevated on the night of the school science fair where Tillie is hoping to be acknowledged for her project on the effect of gamma rays on man-in-the-moon marigolds. First published in 1970, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and the Obie Award for Best American Play.
