Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Broadway Across America, NETworks Presentations, LLC and Blue Man Productions are pleased to announce that the new theatrical touring production of BLUE MAN GROUP will make its anticipated South Florida premiere at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County's Ziff Ballet Opera House May 13 - 18, 2014. BLUE MAN GROUP is part of the Broadway in Miami 2013-2014 subscription season presented by Bank of America.

The company is run by the father/son team of Tom and Bubba Lloyd, the hosts of the popular tv show Hot Rod Reality and a second tv show soon to be seen on a major television network. At 25, Bubba Lloyd is considered to be one of the top three designers in the country.

Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Matthew Lombardo present the Barrington Stage production of Becoming Dr. Ruth with Debra Jo Rupp as Dr. Ruth Westheimer at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale from tonight, April 16 through Sunday, April 20. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 31for the acclaimed Mark St. Germain play, which is directed by Julianne Boyd and is part of the WinterStage Series at the Parker Playhouse. The production comes direct from New York and will be produced by Michael Alden, Stefany Bergson and Rodger Hess.
AT&T Donates $30,000 to Miami-Dade Public School Music Programs

The Young Patronesses of the Opera (YPO) organization is the proud recipient of a generous grant from AT&T to support their In School Opera program that reaches out to 30,000 school children each year. Now in its 39th season, the 2014 tour began in January and will run until early April performing "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" by Seymour Barab. This 30-minute production with full sets, costumes and live music tell the story through music and humor of the Piper who helps a town in need and teaches integrity. Each student receives a workbook created by YPO education committee members with poems, music, games and puzzles to help the students learn the story and music. Additionally, teachers receive a companion study guide using Florida's Sunshine Standards to enhance their student's critical thinking and evaluative skills.
Pigs Do Fly to Present 'FIFTY PLUS' at Empire Stage, 5/1-11

The plays have been chosen and casting is complete for Pigs Do Fly Productions' very first production - Fifty Plus - A Celebration of Life... As We Know It. Producer Ellen Wacher, along with directors Marjorie O'Neill-Butler and Beverly Blanchette and a committee made up of members of the South Florida theatrical community, spent several months weeding through the 353 short plays they received in response to their call for submissions. The final seven were selected at a marathon read through at Empire Stage on March 3rd.

Broward Cultural Division has extended the application deadline in a County-wide Call to Cities in which they are seeking the assistance of Broward cities and Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) to identify specific, prominent, outdoor locations for nine or more murals and potential partnerships with public and private entities. Broward artists will be selected for this mural project through a unique partnership among Broward Cultural Division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Community Foundation of Broward, in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community. All Broward cities are invited to apply for this Call to Cities and the application deadline has been extended to May 4 at 11:59 p.m.

Broward Cultural Division, ArtServe and Creative Capital Professional Development Program, and The Girls' Club have collaborated to invite Golden Globe winner and Emmy-nominated TV writer and producer Maxine Lapiduss to Broward County for an encore presentation on 'branding.' Following the success of her first Broward workshop on the subject in the fall of 2013, the workshop, Authentic Branding Introduction, will take place tonight, April 1, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at The Girls' Club Gallery, 117 NE 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale.
