The Ogunquit Playhouse is set to open Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, on stage June 20 - July 15. This all-new production is based on the 2008 Tony Award winning Lincoln Center Theatre production.

Penobscot Theatre Announces Community Block Party, 6/30

On Saturday June 30 the staff of Penobscot Theatre will throw their first COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY. The event is to be held at the Bangor Opera House as well as in the parking lot directly next door to the theatre (Union and Main) and will last from Noon-8PM. This is a free event but a $5 donation is encouraged.

Acorn Productions poetry reading series 'Lowry's Lodge' continues in June with featured guest Jay Franzel from Wayne joining co-curator Jim Donnelly, who will not only read from his work but also from the work of the now-deceased Herb Coursen. The 'Lowry's Lodge' series takes place on the second Friday of the month at the Acorn Studio Theater and features 2 poets each month reading approximately a half-hour of their work, followed by a question and answer period with the audience.

President George HW Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush honored the Ogunquit Playhouse by attending yesterday's (June 3rd) Matinee performance of Always, Patsy Cline, now playing through June 16. Sally Struthers (as Louise) and Carter Calvert (as Patsy Cline) welcomed them backstage during intermission, where President and Mrs. Bush exalted both leading lady's performances. The former President and First Lady "loved" the show, and the cast, musicians and audience members loved seeing them as well. Check out the photo below!

Rotary International invites all to join them and the Ogunquit Playhouse in the fight to eradicate Polio worldwide by purchasing a ticket to ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, on "Rotary Night," tonight, May 31, 2012 at the Ogunquit Playhouse. For every ticket sold that evening, the Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion to the York Rotary Club. This year's goal is to raise over $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio. Tickets start at $39 per person. The Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is set to celebrate its 80th Anniversary season today, May 23 to October 21, 2012. The lineup offers a mix of Broadway's most enduring musical classics, along with some of the hottest new shows on stage today. Executive Artistic Director, Bradford Kenney explains, "A milestone anniversary deserves a year made up of Broadway's greatest classics, retrospectives of the Playhouse's biggest hits, and of course a brand-new Broadway musical from one of America's greatest song writers, Dolly Parton."
