Feel the Music! Goes to Belfast with Project Common Bond, 8/1-8

This August NYC nonprofit Feel the Music! will go to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to bring music and healing to 75 teens from around the world who have lost a family member in a terrorist act. For the first time, Feel the Music! will offer music programming overseas, through an ongoing collaboration with Project Common Bond, a weeklong summer camp started by 9/11 partner organization, Tuesday's Children.

A unique international initiative, Project Common Bond is a week-long summer camp that brings together teens from across the globe who have experienced similar tragedies to build their resiliency and strength. This year, 75 youth (ages 13-19) from Spain, Russia, India, Israel, Palestine, Ireland and the United States will come together with world-renowned experts in the fields of leadership, communication and the expressive arts to foster collaboration, peace building and global stewardship. The Harvard University Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program is providing the leadership component, and Feel the Music! is providing the music programming.

Acclaimed singer-songwriters and Feel the Music! faculty Mary Lee Kortes and Valerie Ghent (Ghent is also Feel the Music!'s founder) will teach singing and assemble a youth chorus over the week-long camp. Also in attendance will be musician Alan Starr of the Dublin group DC Tempest as well as Feel the Music!'s program director, Lucia Dundara.
