The Anatolian Trio Plays Second Tour Of Turkey, Preview Concert Held At Hartt 5/9

The Anatolian Trio, an ensemble based out of The Hartt School, announces a 13 date concert tour of Turkey. The Trio returns to Turkey for its second tour, presenting new works by Hartt faculty and student composers as well as Turkish composers. A preview concert will be held at The Hartt School on May 9, at 5:30 PM in Bliss Music Room in the Fuller Music Center. This concert is free and open to the public.

The Anatolian Trio features clarinetist Dan Lipak ‘10, violinist Anna Griffis ‘08, and pianist Erberk Eryilmaz ‘11. Dedicated to bringing classical and contemporary instrumental music to new audiences, the Trio regularly performs throughout greater New England in both traditional and unconventional concert settings. In 2009, the Trio completed a five week tour through Turkey, with sold-out performances in Trabzon, Ankara, Iskanderun, and Hatay. The Trio will premiere several new works by Hartt faculty member Robert Carl, Erik Nielsen ‘08, Jessica Rudman ‘11, and Turkish composer Sedar Mukhatov at the May 9 preview concert, and will play these works in Turkey.

While in Turkey, the Trio will be featured performers at several universities, presenting master classes, and performing concerts in various cities. The innovative concert tour will blend the invigorating rhythms of Turkish fold music with luscious sounds of classical instruments and the unpredictable twists and turns of the Trio's contemporary repertoire.

The tour includes performances at Gaziantep Fine Arts School, Mediterranean University, Antalya State Conservatory, Ankara Opera and Ballet House, Kahramanmaras Fine Arts School, Cukurova University, Adana State University, Mustafa Kemal University, Hatay Culture Center, Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory (with Hartt composition chair Robert Carl), Istanbul Bahcesehir University, Samsun University, and Samsun Opera House.
