Short North Stage celebrated its 2015-16 season on Friday, August 28 with A Little Night Gala, an evening of late summer elegance and music inspired by its opening production, Stephen Sondheim's rapturous romantic classic A Little Night Music. On Sunday, August 23rd, Standing Room Only Theatre Company's Nancy S. Nocks was honored for her many contributions to SRO and the theatre community. This tribute in the Shedd Theatre was a celebration of several 'hats' she has worn in her professional career (musician, director, in community, church, education, etc.) of 55 plus years. Nancy is retiring as Executive/Artistic Director of SRO as her final 'hat' to remove. Many of the guest performers and speakers worked with Nancy in the early years.

Showdown: Thurgood Marshall and the Supreme Court Nomination that Changed America is Haygood's sweeping epic about the tumultuous, real-life events surrounding the heated appointment of Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court justice, to be released September 15. Haygood will read excerpts from his book, discuss the journey that led him to recount this turbulent period of our history, and participate in a question and answer session. Pre-signed books will be available for sale at the event.

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding 'Burger Palace Boys' and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking 'Pink Ladies' in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the time in this rollicking musical. Head 'greaser' Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their 'Summer Nights' as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as 'Greased Lightnin', 'It's Raining on Prom Night', and 'Alone at the Drive-In Movie'. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.
