Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival Announces Creative Teams for 2015 Season

The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival 2015 season will feature a slate of top-notch directors, choreographers, musical directors and designers. The flagship theatre, the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, will house West Side Story, The Light in the Piazza (Regional Premiere), Saturday Night Fever (US Regional Premiere), Sweeney Todd, the all new The Calamari Sisters' Big Fat Italian Wedding, and the first ever holiday show at the Playhouse -- Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings. The season also brings the hilarious comedy, Late Nite Catechism, downtown to Auburn Public Theater. And for the fourth consecutive year, the new-works series, The PiTCH, returns with new writing teams from all over the country presenting their new musicals in development. The PiTCH will run from June 11 - August 1.

This marks a record-breaking figure for the annual campaign in Syracuse, an effort coordinated by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at theatres across the nation. In 21 years of the campaign at Syracuse Stage, audience members have donated over $337,000 for this cause.

The Orchard Project, the eight-year-old program that has served as a starting place for major, award-winning shows that have debuted in theaters across the United States and world, is pulling up roots and transplanting itself to Saratoga Springs, NY this summer. In addition to continuing to serve as a laboratory for theater teams and companies, the Orchard Project will now be able to offer public performances, adding a theatrical component to the vibrant cultural life of Saratoga, which presently provides summer homes to the New York City Ballet, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

The Barn is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company whose sole mission is 'to give theatre a chance.' For the first time in the series' seven-year history, both presentations will include wireless captions for the deaf/HOH audience members, which can be accessed on personal cellular devices.
