“She is a STAR!” - BroadwayWorld
"When she sings, brilliance is in the air." - SF WEEKLY
Lianne Marie Dobbs, star of multiple productions of Jane Austen’s Emma, Always… Patsy Cline, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (1st National Tour), Himself & Nora (Off-Broadway), and Broadway by the Year (Town Hall), brings her solo cabaret show Why CAN'T a Woman...? to 54 Below for one night only. With renowned music director and arranger Ron Abel, Lianne highlights what being a woman means to her through a variety of songs, and inspiring words of wisdom from great female writers. The evening will include “Something's Coming”, “Mind if I Make Love To You”, “I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face”, “How To Handle a Woman”, “If I Ruled the World” and more.
Join New York actor and beloved nightclub performer Lianne Marie Dobbs as she raises a glass to the musical strength and lyrical beauty of women through songs, many originally intended for the male voice, bookended by insight from celebrated feminist authors.
”Saucy and sunny” according to Variety, and a genuine feminist from San Fran with a penchant for used bookstores, the [now] NYC-based actor & singer, Lianne is lauded as one of the "Best Vocalists of the Decade" by BroadwayWorld (Dec 2020). Her debut album “Everything Old is New Again” is on Shout! Broadway records, and reached the Top Ten Vocal Albums of the Year list in multiple publications. During the pandemic, Lianne and her partner, Luke Darnell, volunteered over 60 virtual concerts to seniors in isolation and their caregivers through Sing For Your Seniors and Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
