The Broadway performer marked the launch of her new Club44 Records album with a New Orleans–inspired concert.
Broadway and cabaret performer Julie Benko celebrated the release of her new album on Club44 Records with EUPHONIC GUMBO’S MARDI GRAS SPECTACULAR at Birdland. See photos from the show.
The concert took place on February 16 and served as the annual New Orleans–inspired jazz event led by Benko and her band, Euphonic Gumbo.
Benko fronted the ensemble, which includes Jason Yeager (piano/arrangements), Linus Wyrsch (reeds), Andy Warren (trumpet), Ron Wilkins (trombone), Michael O’Brien (bass), and Jay Sawyer (drums). Special guest singer and tap dancer John Manzari joined the performance.
Following her Broadway run as Fanny Brice in FUNNY GIRL and her return to Broadway in HARMONY, Benko returned to Birdland for the album release concert, which featured selections performed in a Mardi Gras–themed setting.
