The producers of In Focus with Martin Sheen have announced the latest in an effort to address issues facing America's young people. The program is set to examine language disorders that are impacting communication skills in children.

In Focus with Martin Sheen is an independently produced television program airing in markets around the country on public television. The show is hosted by the legendary Martin Sheen. Mr. Sheen is one of America's most respected and beloved actors in addition to being an outspoken activist for the causes most important to him. In Focus Martin Sheen addresses several issues facing our modern world including the latest issues that are relevant to America's children.

Specific Language Impairment or SLI is a condition where the brain's wiring has difficulty translating thoughts into speech. It differs from speech disorders in that the mechanics of creating words is sound but the child can have difficulty choosing the right word for a given context. It is usually identified by ages three or four after other causes like hearing loss have been ruled out. Often the disorder is genetic and can be corrected with therapy and practice on the part of the child, and In Focus with Martin Sheen is set to showcase the success therapists are having in treating this communication issue in children.

In Focus with Martin Sheen is planning on airing the pieces later this year. In Focus with Martin Sheen can be reached through the show's official website at infocusptv.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/InFocusMartinSheen for more information.
