Seattle Opera's Young Artists Present ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, 4/1-4/11 by BWW News Desk
- March 23, 2010 Seattle Opera's Young Artists return to Bellevue next week in an all-new, fully-staged production of Ariadne auf Naxos. Italian slapstick and classical Greek myth collide in this unique 'backstage comedy' from Richard Strauss. When a rich patron decrees that a capering troupe of comedians must integrate their performance into an opera company's rhapsodic story of love lost and love found, high art and lowbrow antics blend with delightful results. Ariadne auf Naxos features whimsical ensembles, some of Strauss' most soaring romantic music, and one of the most spectacular coloratura arias in all opera.
