Seattle Opera's Young Artists Present ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, 4/1-4/11

By: Mar. 23, 2010

Seattle Opera's Young Artists return to Bellevue next week in an all-new, fully-staged production of Ariadne auf Naxos. Italian slapstick and classical Greek myth collide in this unique "backstage comedy" from Richard Strauss. When a rich patron decrees that a capering troupe of comedians must integrate their performance into an opera company's rhapsodic story of love lost and love found, high art and lowbrow antics blend with delightful results. Ariadne auf Naxos features whimsical ensembles, some of Strauss' most soaring romantic music, and one of the most spectacular coloratura arias in all opera.

Director Peter Kazaras (The Marriage of Figaro, Falstaff) brings his innovative, theatrical flair to this one-of-a-kind examination of the many elements that come together to make entertainment. Maestro Brian Garman (La Traviata) conducts the Auburn Symphony Orchestra at the intimate Theatre at Meydenbauer Center. Don't miss your opportunity to enjoy a young, energetic cast and experience the immediacy of live opera in a way not possible at more conventional opera houses.

Tickets are just $35.
