BAM Graywolf Press Will Present FUTURELIT: A CONVERSATION & CELEBRATION

BAM has partnered with Graywolf Press to present an evening of readings and conversation with authors from Graywolf. Donika Kelly, Danez Smith, and Malcolm Tariq will present their original work, prompting dialogue about what the future of art holds, written and otherwise. After the conversation drinks, light snacks, spaces to mingle, and comfortable corners to read will be available to audience members. The event will also include a dance party where audience members are encouraged to continue the conversation through movement.
Teknopolis 2020, BAM's Interactive Digital Arts Showcase Returns For The Fourth Year

BAM's popular, interactive arts showcase Teknopolis returns for its fourth year with an ambitious new program designed to inspire creativity, connect with the future, and embolden a renewed sense of play for all ages. Teknopolis offers the latest in technology-fueled art and participatory environments. It features work by leading artists and technologists who are pushing the artistic boundaries of VR, AR, mixed reality (MR), 360° films, and sensor-based technology and displays, and whose work sits at the crossroads of art, film, music, and technology. This year, the three-week-long showcase includes 20 highly interactive installations and six 360° films with artists from 12 different countries, presenting their work over five levels of the BAM Fisher building, from February 22 to March 8. Many of the exhibitions allow participants to interact with the installations directly.

BAM's Run Of MEDEA Extends Until March 8

Director/writer Simon Stone's (Yerma) Medea will extend its run to March 8th, due to popular demand. Fourteen additional performances have been added to the schedule, which began previews on January 12th and opens on January 30th. The production is staged at the Harvey Theater at BAM Strong (651 Fulton St, Brooklyn).

The Billie Holiday Theatre (BHT) announces its annual global call for stories - 50in50: Letters to Our Sons. For the fourth year, MacArthur a?oeGeniusa?? Dominique Morisseau's curatorial statement calls women from all walks of life to share their stories. A diverse group of 50 stories will be selected to be read by a renowned collective of women actors in Brooklyn, New York followed by the West Coast premiere at the dynamic and newly-created WACO Theater Center in Los Angeles, California. Readings will take place in March 2020.
Kaufman Music Center Announces Ecstatic Music Series Lineup

In February, Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music series presents one of its most eagerly-awaited programs: an evening with acclaimed composer/performers Missy Mazzoli and Kelly Moran (February 29), who will perform solo sets with piano, keyboards, and electronics, and give the world premiere of Mazzoli's The Night Ahead and No Real Fate. Violinist Olivia De Prato (Mivos Quartet) will join Mazzoli on selected pieces. This concert at Merkin Hall is part of Ecstatic Music's 10th anniversary season, and a New Sounds Live co-presentation, hosted by John Schaefer and streamed live at newsounds.org.
