PERFORMA LIVE ON BROADWAY to Feature Julio Torres, Barbara Kruger & More at Town Hall

Performa will present PERFORMA LIVE ON BROADWAY: A VARIETY SHOW on June 10 at The Town Hall. The one-night-only event will celebrate 20 years of Performa programming through a 90-minute, 12-act variety show spanning music, dance, comedy, and live performance.
Hosted by Casey Jost, the evening will feature appearances and performances by Julio Torres, Barbara Kruger, Anne Imhof, Yvonne Rainer, Saint Heron with Artina McCain, serpentwithfeet, Laurie Simmons and Michael Rohatyn, Lonnie Holley, Marcel Dzama, Slauson Malone 1, and Alexa West, with additional acts to be announced.
According to organizers, the show draws inspiration from the traditions of vaudeville and early twentieth-century variety performance, presenting short-form acts in rapid succession across genres and artistic disciplines. Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg cited the 1915 manifesto Synthetic Futurist Theatre as a conceptual influence on the show's format.
The event will also celebrate the history of The Town Hall, which opened in 1921 and has hosted artists and public figures including Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Lorraine Hansberry, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, and Celine Dion.
Founded by Goldberg, Performa is dedicated to commissioning and presenting contemporary live performance work through initiatives including the Performa Biennial and Performa Institute.
PERFORMA LIVE ON BROADWAY: A VARIETY SHOW is produced by Esa Nickle, Sasha Okshteyn, Robert Kalas, and Thuthuka Sibisi, and directed by creative producer Dannah Gotlieb. The event is presented in partnership with The Town Hall and Cultured. Tickets begin at $67.
