THE SEAGULL to Get Site-Specific Staging From SOLID FLESH in Brooklyn
Directed by Tabitha Davidson, the production runs at St. Lydia's in Gowanus with a 24th-century adaptation.
Contemporary indie theatre company SOLID FLESH today shared production details for its new staging of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. Directed by Tabitha Davidson, this strictly limited engagement will transform St. Lydia's in Gowanus into a multi-space, site-specific theatrical experience. The production opens on June 20 and runs through June 27.
The performance will span two environments: the first half of the play will take place outdoors in the open air, before the audience is transitioned indoors into the intimate St. Lydia's space for the second half.
The powerhouse ensemble is led by Carys Douglas, Sarah Yannie, and Kieran Gettel-Gilmartin, a trio bringing fierce contemporary energy to Chekhov's iconic exploration of art, fame, and unrequited love which is as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.
Ryan Hemstock, Leah Fahim, Asher Ross, Matthew Decostanza, Owen Llyod, and Sadie Goldstein round out the cast. Gettel-Gilmartin pulls double duty for the production, pulling the text into the 21st century with a razor-sharp new adaptation while also starring as the tortured young writer, Konstantin.
Starring: Carys Douglas as Nina, Sarah Yannie as Irina, Kieran Gettel-Gilmartin as Konstantin, Ryan Hemstock as Trigorin, Leah Fahim as Masha, Asher Ross as Semon, Matthew DeCostanza as Dorn, Owen Llyod as Sorin, and Sadie Goldstein as Paulina
