Emmanuel Music presents Bach's Rarely Heard Complete Six Cantata Christmas Oratorio

On December 16 at 8 p.m. in Emmanuel Church, the chorus and orchestra of Emmanuel Music, under the direction of Ryan Turner, will present Bach's rarely heard complete Christmas Oratorio, featuring all six cantatas. Bach's magnificent work traces the events of the Christmas season, from the birth of Jesus to the arrival and worship of the Magi, each celebrated with a distinctive cantata featuring its own vivid sound world pastoral double reeds, introspective strings, noble horns, celebratory trumpets and mighty timpani. ArtsEmerson And A.R.T. Announce CITIZEN READ

ArtsEmerson and American Repertory Theater invite individuals and groups from the Greater Boston area to sign up for Citizen Read, a 4-part series of dynamic events activating a public dialogue on race and identity in America. From January through March 2018, participants in Citizen Read will engage in works by acclaimed author, poet, playwright, and MacArthur Fellow Claudia Rankine through text, facilitated conversations, and performance, exploring the questions Rankine investigates through her work.

The Un-Common Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for their Spring Production of Little Shop of Horrors on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. The production will feature a cast of 7th through 12th graders and will be performed at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro on April 6-8, 2018.

In the spirit of the holidays, Shakespeare & Company announces four Berkshire beneficiaries for Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, written by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, directed by Producing Associate Ariel Bock. Post-show collections from each performance will benefit a different local organization, including The Elizabeth Freeman Center, Pittsfield Boys & Girls Club, Hospice Care in the Berkshires, and The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

BPDA Approves The Huntington Avenue Redevelopment Project

The Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) voted this evening to approve the proposed redevelopment of 254-264 Huntington Avenue, which will include the renovation of the Huntington Avenue Theatre and the theatre's support wing as well as a new apartment building next to the theatre. This approval puts in motion a donation by commercial developers QMG Huntington LLC of the historic Huntington Avenue Theatre and its support wing to the Huntington Theatre Company for its ownership in perpetuity.

After an extremely successful pilot launch and multiple inquiries as to when 'that really cool band' would be coming back: SKL Presents - Coffeehouse Soul Sessions will a monthly gathering at the Dedham Square Coffeehouse, starting on January 20th with a Pre-Grammy show. Grammy nominated soul-funk-blues band, The GroovaLottos will be serving as the house band. The sessions will also feature guest artists each month. In November the band was joined by legendary r&b guitarist, Steve Helme.
