This could be the edible I ate while watching Lindsay Lohan’s latest holiday movie last night, but as I was watching I had a thought: is there a place for her on Broadway?

I just love her & would literally pay all my money to see her as Sally Bowles in Cabaret or Lola in Damn Yankees.

Drop your dream casting for Lindsay below.

I'd be curious as to whether she could handle eight shows a week. I would have been interested back when she did Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (the whole "Eliza Rocks" musical section of the film is the highlight for me), but who knows? I'm sure people would buy tickets. And Sally would be an interesting role for her to take on, maybe. I would rather wait for a Robyn Hurder take on Lola in Damn Yankees. She's paid her dues and it's her dream role.

Talent wise- she'd be amazing.

Everything  else? I think she'd be too big a risk. (Reliability, stamina, etc.)

She did a West End production of Mamet’s Speed The Plow a few years ago. She got some pretty decent notices but she apparently had trouble remembering her lines and needed prompts throughout the show.

Lindsay burned so many bridges in the industry, I just don't see it happening.

I could see a brief stint in Chicago (a la Pamela Anderson) as a starting point. Even if she sucks, people will still go see her

Disagree 100%. There's no comparing the two of them.  Pamela is beloved to many and people went to see Chicago WANTING to see her succeed.  Lindsay has no comparable fan base --- and the audience  would be full of people rubbernecking and waiting to see her fail.

An entire generation of people were raised on Lindsay Lohan, from Parent Trap to Mean Girls, and are actively rooting for her comeback. Their stories may be different but people want her to succeed in the same way they did Pamela. She seems like she’s overcome some demons and I hope she kills it on screen, on stage, wherever.

I completely agree with you. And no one is gonna pay top dollar to rubberneck. Pam has fans and supporters. Lindsay really doesn’t anymore. I think Lindsay’s best bet is to slowly rebuild her rep with time and consistency taking indie projects, TV guest spots and more Lifetime Hallmarky movies. She needs to regain a positive regard for her work ethic and show some consistency. Broadway is not the place to start. She’ll relapse.

Pam went into Broadway with a strong work ethic.

A brief stint in Chicago is the only thing that her minute talent would lend itself to

I am very sympathetic to the need to sell tickets, so in that universe, sure, throw the poor thing onto a stage to watch her crash n burn. this is america after all.

but in a perfect universe, why would we ever want to deprive a truly talented stage actor of a role so a D-list reality star can try and redeem her career?

Considering how Charlotte D'Amboise, Bianca Marroquin, Amra-Faye Wright, Brenda Braxton and Dylis Croman continued to cycle and recycle themselves back into the show multiple times over the last few years, I don't necessarily think veteran stage actors are being "deprived" of a role in a 25 year old revival.

This is isn't the show that's going to turn out some brand new star any time soon - it's a show that can be comfortably molded around an innumerable amount of possible cast members from all walks of entertainment. They can tailor it to fit Lohan's strengths for sure.

Like someone said, Lohan has a devoted fanbase of millenials who grew up with her (like me). Even if it's a stepping stone, Chicago could be just the start of maybe a new avenue for her...

There’s a whole generation of millennials that would beg to differ.

The public loves a comeback, especially for women who were treated horrifically in the media.

That must have been one incredible edible if it made you think Lindsay could do Broadway after that trainwreck of a Holiday movie. It was some good laugh out loud trash, and she was horrid in it. The only suitable role for her would be the title role in a revival of Waiting for Godot.

I'm acknowledging that Lindsay Lohan would sell tickets that Charlotte D'Amboise and Bianca Marroquin cannot. I'm also saying--and feel free to disagree, if you can possibly-- that while YOU and many other repeat visitors to Chicago may tire of seeing these actresses again and again, they all have more talent (as actors, dancers, singers) than Lindsay Lohan could ever muster.

Use her to sell tickets, sure, by all means, but in terms of performance quality, yeah, all the women you mentioned strike me a so objectively more talented and would be giving objectively better performances. Seems odd to me that people would WANT the reality-star stunt, rather than tolerate it as financial necessity.

If you're looking at fan retention/growth from the perspective of an artist's output, I'd agree with you. But the chronically online (particularly Gen. Z) play by different rules. Interesting personalities trump talent and it's not hard for me to see a Lindsay Lohan casting announcement (good or bad) having a "Lea Michele going into Funny Girl" like buzz to it. You can't buy that word of mouth and I do believe it'd guarantee her at least a respectable run (should her talent back it up).

Speaking of a breakdown to Broadway pipeline... Britney in ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME, anyone?

I think it's also easy to forget that, at least once upon a time, Lohan was a gifted actress. If she'd continued to work at the level of The Parent Trap, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and A Prairie Home Companion, she'd have had such a fascinating career. Though I supposed any actor would be lucky to have something as beloved and enduring as Mean Girls on their resume.

Lohan had and likely has a huge following. She has a lot of talent. Can she sing or dance? Is she capable of the discipline needed for a Broadway run? Those are unanswerable questions until she actually gives it a shot.

But all that stuff about her being a "D list reality star" or no fan base or talent--absurd nonsense. And to hold Pamela Anderson up as a superior talent is simply laughable.

Anderson may well be more disciplined (though Brian Blessed worked with her in British pantomime and derided her unprofessionalism), but that's another matter.

Lindsay Lohan's career trajectory is completely tied to her personal struggles. No disrespect to the fine lifers over at Chicago but Lohan was out acting many of them before she was finished puberty. That early 2000s moment was a golden age for teen stars overall. I can't think of another era that had as many children who weren't just popular, they were good. Sadly that talent led many of them into situations that left them with scars. Scars we should not be mocking them for. This place is not somewhere I necessarily expect empathy or good taste but it's always great (read: sad) to see just how low some of you can stoop.

Anyway, Lindsay is not a great singer so it'd have to be a play. Something funny. I'd say Neil Simon but the reviews for those revivals get worse every time. Perhaps Noel Coward instead? I'd go see Lindsay Lohan in Design For Living.

I still think the Mean Girls musical should have split the role of the teacher and Regina’s mom. Keep casting Broadway talent as the mom. But put novelty stars like Fey and Lohan into the teacher role. She doesn’t have to sing or dance. Just show up, deliver some wisecracks, and kindle audience nostalgia.

It would make more sense than the influencer they cast as a late Aaron Samuels.
