NBC will present THE GRINCH musical this December starring Morrison  Dec 3 2020, 10:23:44 PM
Based on the clips, this does not seem to be a great role for Morrison (even though he’s a talented performer). Perhaps within the context of the entire show, the role will seem like a better fit.

One of my favorite KC "Wicked" clips  Her growl at the end always gets me!

I feel like current Kristen has become a caricature of herself.  It's been a very interesting transformation to observe.

That song is gorgeous.  I hear a bit of "Pie Jesu" & I'm here for it.

Revisiting the pro-shot footage highlights even more how incredible she was in the role. No actress since has been able to sing the legit soprano sections quite like she did.

There’s a difference between confusion and criticism.  I have only seen the latter in this thread.

I can only speak for myself, but I am not personally confused as to why this film is happening and have not acted as such.

And to your second point, people are allowed to have their opinions about the creative decisions being made

While this is perhaps accurate, it doesn’t mean people won’t have opinions about the creative decisions.

They only need to shave a couple years off, not 40 like the did in “Irishman”, so I’m absolutely not concerned. Again, this film is ONLY happening so Platt can do it now so I’m happy it’s getting done. "

That seems like A LOT of work for Ben to play that role.  A role that could be played as well by an age-appr

Ben Platt is certainly one extreme talented. His protest of Evan in the OBC was incredible. I am sure he will be great in the film.

However, concerns about his age are valid. You point out that people in their 20s have been playing teenagers for decades. While that is true, it’s not always the best decision.

Also, stage vs. film are very different. A 30-year-old actress playing a high school age Glinda in “Wicked” is very different than an actor who will be in his late 20s

"Woulda Coulda Shoulda" seems to be a pretty common theme around these message boards.

I also love "In The Bedroom Down The Hall" and hope it is added in the movie.

I get that.  He was a great Evan in the original production, and I am sure he will be fine in the film.  In my own ideal world, they would have cast someone else.

Of course, I am not the one making the movie, so my opinion won't go beyond being posted on a Broadway message board.

Because this is a Broadway message board?

While no one is surprised that Platt is playing the role, there is no reason the role couldn't have been cast with an actor of color.

This is EXCELLENT casting. Honestly, Platt is what excites me the least about this film.  While he was so great in the original production, he does not realistically look 17.  He's also done a pretty good job of building a career since DEH, and I think he has so many opportunities to showcase his talent in the future.

I also think they missed a great opportunity to cast an actor of color in the role of Evan.

I was hopeful the "on ice" version would happen first.

Official: Musical Version of SMASH is Being Adapted for Broadway  May 24 2020, 11:36:28 AM

As much as I loved the TV show, I don't see how anyone would think this would realistically run for long period of time.  There are so many chances for a play-within-a play about writing a play to go so wrong.
