Stage 4 cancer. Such a shame. Cancer can suck it!
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

She fought such a courageous battle against cancer after first being diagnosed in July, 1992 - getting the diagnosis days after her father passed away from cancer. Such heartbreaking news today.

Olivia was such a huge part of my childhood (and beyond), it is hard to imagine she is gone. Though all of her personal tragedies, she never lost her spirit. Rest in Peace, beautiful Olivia, you will always be remembered for your huge talent and even bigger heart.

Coincidentally, Xanadu was released exactly 42 years ago, on August 8, 1980, and this end sequence will always be peak Olivia to me. What an iconic beauty!

I found out during my work today so had to pull it together, but now I’m back in my hotel room (working in Wisconsin this week) and am sobbing intermittently.
I wrote this tribute and shared it to my social media:
What is there to say that I haven’t said before? I Honestly Love You, You’re The One That I Want, Have You Never Been Mellow, Physical, Deeper Than The Night, Magic, Suddenly, Heart Attack, Soul Kiss, I Need Love and just about a gazillion songs more. Before there was Madonna, there was Olivia. First landing on my radar with the movie Grease when I was 14 y.o. (44 years ago!) the summer between my 7th and 8th grade. She meant so much to a shy, awkward, bullied boy. My obsession was so great that my parents once sat me down for an intervention to little to no avail. One of my first concerts in high school. Still one of my favorite concert memories all these years later. I got to see her in concert again many years later & was even able to unexpectedly meet her afterwards. As I posed over her shoulder for a photo (that didn’t turn out), I whispered in her ear, telling her that her music helped this gay boy survive high school. She didn’t understand what I said and the meet-and-greet line was rushed so rather than repeat, I just said never mind. I still like to think she knew what she meant and means to an entire generation of gay men.
Olivia, to quote one of my favorite songs of yours:
My love is running deeper than the night
Stronger than the north wind blowing
It's a fire burning bright
And it's always been this way

I tried watching "Grease" - I had started tearing up - - - I had to turn it off. She was a huge part of my childhood and one of my truly first celebrity crushes.
When I was eleven I used to listen to her Greatest Hits album and endlessly stare at the cover. I adored her so.
Her album "Grace + Gratitude" got me through a really rough period in my life.
I just adored her.
