This is crazy! He stepped into the Dr. Walker role - which sounds like the narrator - not sure if the role sings. They were going to cancel the shows this weekend because they had too many Covid cases and people missing - but he stepped in and did some of it off book after about an hour of rehearsal. Pretty impressive…
And it's very sweet that he's Mare Winningham's hubby. (I had no idea!)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Pretty good weekend for him also, considering that last night CBS played Top Gun in prime time as a way to hype the new Paramount sequel coming out. I wonder what the residuals on that would be?

Non-existent by now. TOP GUN was very early in his career so he was pretty much just paid full out. If he was given any points percentage in the film, that would have been rare. Especially on TV airings, home video sales, etc. People assume actors continue making millions for years if they did a blockbuster film. Unless they were part of the producing team as well, actors make zero once they’re done working on a film.

I don’t think that’s entirely true. Even the basic SAG contract includes residuals, even if it’s pennies. People who worked one episode on a TV show from years ago will receive residual checks for $.01. So I’m sure a movie that plays on TV quite often yields something.

It doesn’t quite work like that. Residuals don’t diminish over time, they’re simply paid out each time a movie airs, and you earn them indefinitely regardless of how much you made upfront. He doesn’t need to be given “percentage points” to make residuals on airings. DVD sales, etc can be negotiated to give certain actors a higher bump, but even without that, residuals can be pretty hefty for hit movies.
Regardless, it's not like he's sitting at home waiting for Top Gun residuals. He's still a working actor, recently seen in a major role on the Netflix smash Inventing Anna, as well as appearing in Apple TV's WeCrashed.
I'm friends with Rick Domeier who is now a show host on QVC--the home shopping channel In years gone by he did a few roles in some movies and still gets residual checks when they're aired on TV. He had a small role with lines in DIE HARD and I actually saw the check he received for that. It was less than two dollars but he still is getting money from that film.

No need to name drop. Looks ugly. I’ve referenced many actor friends including a few currently on Broadway and one headlining a successful network sitcom and I would NEVER in my life mention their names. I’ll mention stories but never in my life would I mention their names. It’s no one’s business who they are.
Radio host Howie Carr out of Boston appeared in the John Travolta film A CIVIL ACTION in 1998, in a very small role (he was onscreen for literally less than five minutes), and he still jokes on his radio show every time he gets residuals from the film, sometimes it's a check for a dollar and some change.
Also, I am acquainted with the Rebello family of Martha's Vineyard. Chris Rebello (who is sadly no longer with us) played Mike Brody, Chief Brody's (Roy Scheider) son in the original JAWS in 1975, He was only 12 years old, and he got residual checks every time JAWS was televised, right up to his death in 2000. (Actor Jeffrey Voorhees who played Alex Kintner, the boy on the inflatable raft in JAWS also still gets checks from Universal.)
He and Mare Winningham met 35 years ago as friends/colleagues, began dating in 2020 right before the pandemic, and then eloped at the end of 2021. How adorable!

If Rick's residual check was significant, I wouldn't have mentioned him by name. However, even he jokes about these checks and says it isn't enough to pay for a regular cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Oh pipe down
It isn’t for you to prescribe exacting details of how a person talks positively about their pal. If you wouldn’t do it that’s fine but your comment was classless and undermined the poster entirely. It was totally about having your voice heard and in reality just doing exactly what you described as ‘ugly’
If Dollypop wants to share a story about someone they are fond of and use their name then we assume that’s ok with the friend.
I saw the show today for the first time, and it (and Edwards) was lovely. I assume that the doctor probably does some more singing/dancing during scenes that they just pulled Edwards out of? Either way, it was a great way to spend a nice afternoon.

This could've been a PM, luv.
So annoying when people want to address/correct another publicly about something they probably didn't think was in bad taste. *eye roll*
