Mr. Saturday Night

It’s quite possible! I saw on Instagram there were some cameras there last week and it seemed a bit more involved than for the Lincoln Center archives.

I also want to sing the praises of this show for a moment. I attended the closing, and it was my second time seeing the show. The amount of laughter and joy that came from the stage was impeccable. Billy Crystal gave it his all, and I really enjoyed the music, book, and overall production. Paymer, Bean, Graff, Harmon, all gave lovely and layered performances, in addition to Jordan Gelber, Brian Gonzales, and Mylinda Hull who all led the ensemble in such a compelling and funny way, and were so hard working!

Shoshana Bean nearly broke by the end of the show, and the emotion between her and Billy Crystal in their final scenes was tremendous. Such a great curtain speech from Billy and the writers and director! This was definitely an underrated treat, and a show that I wish had a longer life on Broadway. It absolutely was one of the more superior film to Broadway adaptations we’ve seen in a long time. Hats off to everyone involved with this!

I think this would have ran longer if they didn't overprice the tickets from the start. I don't think there was ever a discount code floating around. So essentially the only discount option was via TKTS. Hopefully Billy gets to do this again in LA next year.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I saw it twice on TDF and it was almost always available on TKTS. I don’t believe the price was the issue. I think the show is geared to an older audience and that crowd has not fully returned to live theater.

The stage manager is a friend of mine. He said that the show was filmed for Broadway HD.

The show might not be perfect, but I'm willing to purchase a subscription for a month to see this.

The cast album did nothing for me but I’m curious to see Billy’s performance at least. I liked his shtick on the Tony Awards well enough.

Looking forward to catching this proshot and revisiting this piece.

Catalano must be in heaven right now.

I appreciate the new trend of doing ProShots for big Broadway musicals, but I'm a little annoyed that so many of them have been relegated to streaming services. The only one I can think of that had an actual physical media release was The SpongeBob Musical (and Shrek, I guess, if you want to go back a little further).

An American in Paris, Kinky Boots, Holiday Inn and 42nd Street have all had blu-ray releases.

I’m beyond thrilled this is going to be streaming! I was hoping there would be a pro shot since it was not going to have a life beyond Billy so why not make some money on streaming if you aren’t going to tour or license.  Cannot wait to see it.

That was fast. Yet a year later we're still waiting for Waitress, Jersey Boys, and I feel like some others I'm forgetting.

Watching this right now and I'm even more impressed by Crystal's performance than when I saw this live.

The flaws remain as a piece of writing, but it all somehow sticks better on this medium. A more natural fit on screen, if you ask me.

Bean and Harmon remain the standouts in the supporting cast.

A wonderful memento from a pleasant Broadway experience.
