CATS Film Adaptation Thread Dec 19

While in no way am I saying Cats is going to be a blockbuster, for all the titles listed, it’s the worldwide total gross that’s important, not just the domestic numbers. The Lion King and Venom especially were both huge moneymakers for their studios.

It’ll probably be on NBC’s own streaming service, Peacock, next year when it launches.
This is certainly very different, and sounds like it will be a great experience!

I had a great time at the concert! Ben brought such a wonderful energy and nuance to all of his songs, and the crowd was excellent. His cover songs were also really good, and the whole evening felt like such a great celebration of his work. The concert proved to me that not only is Platt a fantastic actor and singer, but also an ENTERTAINER.
It lasted about an hour and a half (even though it started 45 minutes after the scheduled start time) and I sensed how humbled he was to be up ther

I finished watching the season last night and overall liked it a lot. It has some tonal inconsistencies, and a few of the plot lines felt too over the top, but I found the show to be enjoyable, funny, and poignant.
I disagree with the negative comments about Ben Platt’s performance. I loved his performance in this, and felt the show always was energized and engaging when he was on screen. Yes, his ugly cry in one or two episodes was reminiscent of Dear Evan Hansen, but it didn’t ruin my

He signed a Sunday playbill for me when I saw the show Off-Broadway. It’s worth a shot!

I have a few friends who saw it through TDF and their seats were all balcony. Don’t worry though, the balcony at the Hudson is GREAT and I honestly prefer it to most Broadway mezzanines."
Thanks guys for the input! I ended up getting side orchestra row M and they were excellent seats. Phenomenal show, terrific

Burn This Stage Door Jun 17

I think it’s become a bit more hit or miss for Adam Driver. I went on Friday June 7th and he didn’t come out, and I heard that has been happening more recently. I hear he still sometimes comes out, so it’s worth a shot! Keri Russell came out after 10 minutes that night, and that’s when they said Adam was done for the night so I’m not sure about the other two actors, but I believe they usually sign.

I wish the show well, but I question if the danger of the show closing is even closer than we think. Many of the creative team/cast have been plugging the Summer offer in a big way, a time when many shows don’t even need to discount. Plus I’ve seen actors who aren’t even involved with the production posting about it, lending their support. I wonder if this will even make it to Labor Day.

I’m curious as to why the stage door for this show is on 45th Street. Usually people wait for autographs at the Lyceum around the back on 46th, which is the actual stage door. I was very confused one Friday night around 10:45 when I walking down that street and saw no people there.

If you’re a normal theatregoer but unsure, yeah I wouldn’t say higher than $75-80. If you’re a big fan of Beetlejuice (which, seeming by a lot of the dressed up and enthusiastic audience), I’d even say $100-$115 might work for you. Personally, I only paid $33.33 for a great orchestra seat. Time will tell how much longevity this will have. I’ll be interested to see the reviews, and what impact they’ll have on the box office.

I saw the show last night, and overall have positive feelings about it with some problems. The first 15 minutes of the show were not working at all for me.
The opening number was strange with the uninspired ballad then the transition to an overflow of meta jokes (relating more to Broadway itself) that couldn’t keep my interest. McClure and Butler’s patter song should be removed, it felt so isolated from the rest of the show and wasn’t very amusing. I also didn’t love Dead Mom, but I th

This was one of my most powerful theatre experiences recently, but this is a little bizarre. It was not that difficult to get tickets to this at the Public; and I don’t believe it’ll sell out. Gyllenhaal needs another name or a famous show like Sunday to sell out. I also think it would be strange seeing this show in such a large theatre, but I have confidence in both actors that they’ll make it work.
On the subject of Tonys, I hope this doesn’t get the Sunday treatment. I believe Gyllen
I saw the production last night, and overall felt positively about it, but there were definitely some caveats, and some directorial choices that really didn’t work for me.
Glenda Jackson was tremendous as expected, providing a fierce yet vulnerable king that breaks your heart. Houdyshell was great, along with the three actresses playing the daughters (though I did think that Ruth Wilson was a bit stronger in her Cordelia scenes than as the Fool). I also found John Douglas T
