Nkeki Obi-Melekwe will assume the role of Tina Turner on Broadway beginning November 2nd.
As previously announced, Tina reopens October 8th at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. You only have three weeks left to catch Warren "rock the rafters" (The New York Times).
I'm going to GUESS that with a 3 week run - there might not be an alternate.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Some Googling tells me the alternate used to do Weds and Sat matinees, though hopefully the production will clarify that before reopening. (My tix are not for a matinee.) I think the alternate is mainly because of the vocal & emotional strain of the role, so I would assume she is still only doing 6 perfs a week.

My guess is that's her only reason for returning.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The Tonys will have happened before she returns to the show.
This seems more about a sense of loyalty and "closure." But Broadway is a tough gig (especially this role), and we know she has lots of offers elsewhere.
I feel like I just saw a short profile of her recently, I want to say in the Times, where she laughed about how long her "limited engagement" would be, something "probably just a few weeks!" Looks like she wasn't kidding!

Related to that point - if it makes anyone feel better, I also think Warren's performance is slightly overrated. Not because of any fault of hers - she's extremely talented - for me it was just the direction and material were boxing her into a performance that ended up coming across as thin and overly presentational. She's delivered better acting performances in the past, and I feel certain she'll deliver better acting performances in the future.

And she has already drawn one firm boundary: Tina has announced that Warren will return to star only for a “limited engagement” for an unspecified time. When I ask if that means months or weeks, she pauses to consider. “Can I say?” she muses. “I think it may be weeks.”
Weird. Ticketmaster states "Adrienne Warren is scheduled to perform as Tina Turner Tuesday through Saturday evenings.". But, her performing only 5 times a week would be surprising considering she is only there for three weeks.
