Releases next Friday on digital platforms. The first track has been released today by Legacy Records: "Like a Rolling Stone," led by Tony nominee Mare Winningham (Casa Valentina). Link is below.
Of note, this recording features Colton Ryan, who will not be returning to the show this fall due to TV and film conflicts. The album was recorded just days before the Broadway shutdown and held off its release until the show announced a reopening date.
As previously announced, Girl From the North Country will return to the Belasco Theatre on October 13.
I think the music is the best part of this lovely show. And I love that Colton is on the recording, he has a great voice. Looking forward to buying this.
I don't have any connection to Bob Dylan's music besides the Adele cover of Make You Feel My Love (which sounds very different in this show). I finally listened to the cast album. If I only genuinely enjoyed 4 tracks, is there enough to the story to still make the show worthwhile? I had a tough time imagining how they could have coaxed this into a jukebox musical that made sense. I was unable to discern any kind of plot from the sequence of songs.
I saw it at the Public and thought that it was a nuanced piece that set a somber tone. I liked the staging, lighting and performances. It doesn’t play like a jukebox musical. They fit his songs to complement the depression era mood of the piece.
Has Mare Winningham been back in this week? I fear it might close in January, and having seen her (truly superb) cover, Jennifer Blood, want to see it again with Winningham.

Winningham was in when I saw the show again on Monday night and nothing online has indicated she was out. Worth noting they’ve had a 9 show week and some may be out due to COVID or rotating for a night off - I had four understudies on Monday for Kimber Sprawl, Austin Scott, Caitlin Houlahan, and Matthew Harris (who was playing Scott)

I had no connection either and thought the show was incredible. After so many people not liking it on here I was sure I’d be the same, but it’s one of my favorite things I have ever seen!
