...What?

This reminds me of that episode of Bojack Horseman where his memoir wins the Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy Film.

"Wow, this was unexpected, as my book wasn't a comedy. Or a film."

What's the surprise? It's a film of a musical that was nominated in the Best Musial or Comedy Film category. It seems appropriate.

I think the bigger surprise is James Corden snagging a nomination for Best Actor.

For the record, there was already a lengthy thread dedicated to this debate of whether or not this should have been allowed:

I'd encourage people to read it before this thread becomes a rehash of that debate.

And its eligibility in these Golden Globe categories was also discussed. These nominations are not surprising.

I’m more shocked for Corden. He wasn’t the best.

Congrats to all involved with Hamilton and The Prom! Pretty shocking that Leslie Odom Jr. and Meryl Streep did not get nominated.

Oh look, a bibu!

I get why it was nominated, especially since the pool to draw from is a lot smaller this season, but of all the actors in that show to get nominated they picked Lin? I know he wrote the show and is like the face of the whole Hamilton empire, but he is nowhere near the strongest actor in that show.

For Leslie Odom Jr. because he's the likely favorite to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for One Night in Miami.

^That has nothing to do with it. Sasha Baron Cohen is nominated for two roles in different films. Leslie Odom Jr. acted like a cartoon character in the Disney+ production of Hamilton and it clearly didn't warrant a nomination. He's wonderful live and stunning in One Night in Miami

Side note, I am so excited that Palm Springs got a nomination, it was such a joy to watch!

Pre the filming I never understood the hype of Lin in the show and thought he was by far the worst singer of the bunch (by the time I saw the show it was basically a board of understudies). However, after watching the filming I was very pleasantly surprised at Lin's acting and thought he really shined as an actor, even stronger than Leslie despite him being a much better singer. I am not surprised that Lin was nominated and not Leslie.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
