I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I saw the first preview before the shutdown, but I highly encourage people to see this musical once Broadway is back up.
thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this...I loved all the voices and faces...i gives me hope that this will all work when it reopens...i saw the London Wes End production in 2018 and loved the gender switching...this cast seems more powerful in their singing...can't wait for Broadway once again!
I was surprised at how well done this was instead of just the standard zoom grid that we usually get. I was telling my friend that it almost seems better than the stage version to have all of Bobbie's friends crowding around her like that while she's caught in the middle.

That’s actually how Marianne stages it! They surround Bobbie in her kitchen in a very claustrophobic manner. Sondheim told Marianne that’s always how he envisioned the number.
And yes Broadwaybabywannabe, this cast has a very full sound when singing, as there’s several powerhouse singers in the cast. It’s also funny to hear them singing with the London orchestral track, as they sing it with a faster tempo on Broadway, and some of the orchestrations are updated.
This is so good! It's the first lockdown performance where you'd believe they'd film it this way out of choice instead of necessity.
And yes, the style is true to the production, where the sets are inside neon-lined boxes that move around the stage. And sometimes Bobbie's in the box while the others are outside, and vice versa.

It's very interesting. I was very lucky to have seen the first preview -- and I've seen COMPANY several times, but with this production, I realized that the lead (Bobby/Bobbi) is so much of an observer in the show -- So, oddly, Lenk is appropriately featured in the video, in my opinion. Bobbi has a few great moments, but this show really is about the ensemble.
There's a video out there if you know what I mean. I really liked the staging for this production, and the final moments in Marry Me A Little is sublime really brought our the irony of the song, and the show really, ending act one on a very strong note.
