Host John Mulaney continued his series of musical SNL skits on tonight's show, centered around LaGuardia Airport. It included parodies of the following songs:

"The Phantom of the Opera"

"America"

"Tomorrow"

"Cool"

"Defying Gravity" (by a surprise guest that I won't reveal)

"Suddenly, Seymour"

"Road to Nowhere" (musical guest David Byrne)

I thought it was the least funny of the 3, but it's still entertaining, especially the surprise guest. I'll update with the video when it shows up on YouTube.

Maybe he can write a musical with Lin.

Thanks for sharing. Hilarious. I guess I’m glad I am flying into JFK next month, ha ha.

It was okay. The best part of "the special guest" pretending to march with them while hovering above.

I laughed most at 'Cool'.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Jake has long hair and sang about getting felt up and getting a cavity search. I need nothing else today.

And then hit the high Defying Gravity note in falsetto.  Agreed.

I thought the best part of the show was the black history commentary during the news segment. The sketches seemed a wee tentative.

Jake was probably suspended up there after his part for the rest of the skit, right? Because he descended from the same location. That somehow makes it even better.

Bowen needs to be in more singing sketches because he sounded great. As a fellow profiled Asian, his parody was particularly funny. I'm getting over a cold and constantly scared of coughing on the train. Fortunately I haven't yet because I spent a few days working from home and am mostly recovered -- just a mild cough and some sinus issues. Some Asian lady gave me a dirty look and tried to run away from me when I was blowing my nose. I was like bruh, seriously.

I hope John Mulaney and Colin Jost write another Diner Lobster caliber musical sketch because honestly that was epic. They need to build on the same score with parody characters from the same musical, not with a medley of different musicals. And let's not forget the costumes and that set design!

I might be in the minority here but I think this was my favorite parody of the three, and partially because of the different scores.  I think it worked since instead of being focused on one thing like the Diner Lobster, it was kind of a list of different grievances in LGA (all of which are fairly relatable)

Hilarious skit. I fly often so a lot of what they were saying resonated with me.

I was so impressed with Bowen's singing as well!  looking forward to hearing him more.  He has been adding great energy to the sketches.

I am fixated on Aunt Orphan Annie and "DeBlasio, Deblasio"

This was much better than the diner lobster (which I thought was incredibly stupid). This one at least has some cleverness and pertinence, even if it does have the misfortune to be performed by the current SNL cast.

Haha!  And then cast himself as the lead!
