Hey everyone, im sure by now Alex has had to have missed a show, has anyone seen any of his understudies? I saw the show twice and i surprisingly really enjoyed it, but i have thought to myself how much would i like the show without Alex. Im very curious to know how good his understudies are :)

I know he took a break from social media and stage dooring after having an obsessive stalker problem, but I don’t think he ever stopped performing

No matter if he misses, his standby, Will Blum, is one of the most talented people in the industry at the moment. He has performed Elder Cunningham, and also stood by for Alex in School of Rock! (He was amazing in both roles). He also just stood by for Michael Urie in Torch Song, but never got to go on. He also directs and has worked a lot in both the US and London. I cannot WAIT to see his Beetlejuice!
I'd also seen him as Elder Cunningham a number of times and he was one of the few bright spots in the Elf tour. I can't wait to see him as Beetlejuice.

Brightman hasn't been out since the show started, but has anyone else? I heard Rob McClure was in Philly yesterday so I assume an understudy took over for Adam?

sean montgomery covered for rob while he was out. made his adam debut on june 15 i think
don't message me thinking im taylor trensch?? what would he be doing on bww?? you can't possibly be that dumb bye
No one's gone on for Alex yet. I think the only principles that've had understudies on so far are Adam and the Maxine/neighbor/Juno track. The picture of the understudies was from a put-in rehearsal.
Alex hasn’t missed a single show yet. The company has had full put in rehearsals with the understudy Will Blum as Beetlejuice in full costume and makeup

Minor point but I saw Sean Montgomery on June 14."
makes sense (: that's why i put "i think" - i live in japan where we're one day ahead of the USA so his adam debut post was dated june 15 for me when he truly made it on june 14.

Per his Instagram post, Will Blum will be going on for the first time next Tuesday (October 15th) and both shows on Wednesday (October 16th).
I’ve been meaning to finally go see this on Broadway, despite strongly disliking the score & changes from the film. I wasn’t impressed in DC, but I will definitely give it another shot for Will Blum.
I have a feeling Will Blum is filling in for Alex as it was just announced that Alex will be in Here Today with Billy Crystal. Principal photography has been underway in NYC. If its a smaller role, two or three days to film is completely normal. (On average they try to film 3-6 pages of the film a day) I think the "subject to change" refers to the filming schedule and if Alex would be called back for reshoots. Again, I'm simply speculating, however the timeline fits well.
Ok , so i know for a fact Will Blum has gone on a few times, anybody see him yet? Im very curious to hear how he was. He was great in School of Rock :)
I've seen Will a few times as Beetlejuice and he's amazing.
He brings his own energy and personality to the role and doesn't try to copy what Alex is doing. He doesn't do the gruff sounding voice that Alex does and he has some very fun and playful ad libs that he brings to the role (one of my favorites is he playfully tosses his hair during the monologue before the Maitlands are introduced). His voice is fantastic and he sings the heck out of the score and is just having an absolute blast.
Will is a star and I am so glad he's getting to shine so brightly in this role as he absolutely deserves it.
