If you could revive any show, 1990s-present, what would you choose?

I'm between Fiddler On The Roof (even though we've had many) and Hair. What would you choose?

There is an amazing production of Fiddler playing right now off-bway, you should go. Most beautiful one ive ever seen.

And you do realize neither of those show are FROM the time period you mentioned, yes?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I actually saw it when it was downtown...there was something so incredibly special about seeing this musical in the original language. I loved it!

HELLO, DOLLY! (It's been almost a year since it closed--a very long year!)

tbc and just so no one gets the wrong idea, the original language of fiddler on the roof is english. yiddish is the language that would have been spoken by the characters, and the language of the source material. (agree it is incredibly special.) On the original question, I would put a 10 year (at least) ban on revivals (on Broadway).

I never got to see the original production of RENT and it's been long enough for it to come back to Broadway.

Thank you.  My head was spinning.

And: didn't Rent to an off-bway return just a few years ago?   I don't remember it doing so well that would encourage anyone to remount a bway run.

That was in 2011, 8 years ago, and only a few short years after it closed on Broadway. Maybe it didn't do well, idk, but the current tour has been selling out like crazy, so I think Rentheads would love to see the show come back.

Rent (maybe a limited run with the original staging)
In the Heights
Hair (the 2009 revival version)

I’d love to have Spring Awakening or Next to Normal back off-Broadway.

Just because I'd really like to see a production of this, and don't think I ever will: Little Fish by LaChiusa.

The originator is unclear.  in the title, it suggests revival any show ever.  In his opening sentence, he references since the 90s.  Ill answer that question.

Absolutely, The Producers, assuming that the cast is up to it, i.e., they get a good replacement for Nathan Lane (preferably Nathan Lane).  And, please, not Norbert Leo Butz, who has become too one-note to me since Scoundrels.

In the drama department, I'd choose the Cate Blanchette production of A Streetcar Named Desire, which I saw in DC and played at, I  think, BAM.

I’d love to see Urinetown come back to Broadway more than any other show to come out since the 90s. While I’m not entirely certain of who should be who, I’ve had a couple ideas. Andrew Rannells/Ethan Slater as Bobby Strong, Annaleigh Ashford/Ashley Park as Hope Cladwell, Patrick Page/Bertie Carvel as Caldwell B. Cladwell, Rachel Bay Jones/Jennifer Laura Thompson (wouldn’t it be great if she could get two tony nominations out of this show for different characters?) as Penelope Pennywise, Sarah Stiles as Little Sally, and Jeff McCarthy reprising his role as Officer Lockstock (my alternate would be Patrick Page, but I really can’t see anyone being as unbelievably hilarious in this part as McCarthy)

Edit: I’ll throw Michael Cerveris in there as another Cladwell. Based on age, Page and Cerveris are more suited to the part than Carvel, although I think all would bring the right kind of wicked yet funny energy to the role

I’ve also recently posted about a dream cast for The Producers that I believe could be wonderful. Norbert Leo Butz and Ethan Slater would star as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, with a supporting cast being rounded out by Bertie Carvel as Roger DeBris, Christian Borle as Carmen Ghia, Taylor Louderman as Ulla, and Danny Burstein as Franz Liebkind.

My god that fits too perfectly. I'm not even huge into Urinetown, but I would pay good money for that

I think Urinetown would play well as a TV or streaming movie, with Alec Baldwin as Cladwell and either Will Arnett or Patrick Warburton as Lockstock.
